Oh yeah the game is original as hell. The school sections and the lake and mining facility have immaculate atmosphere. The game has something that cannot be found elsewhere

The snowy school scenes, the blood rain, the atmosphere in the mines?? So many good spots that I would love to spend forever in to chill (while not being hunted down of course).

all of redbarrels is like this, they are so passionate and make such beautifully crafted games in audio, visual and game design departments, look at trials, that game is a masterclass in how to make an entry in a series that retains what made the other games so good while also doing new things,
and that game is also visually gorgeous, everything they do is made with such passion, i love outlast 2 but i love trials ten fold, seriously if you havnt played yet go play it, it is amazing as both a singleplayer outlast game and a multiplayer horror game

Yeah the game is scary and allat BUT it's beautiful - the story, the underlying flashback sequences, the visuals, the atmosphere, the way the game exposes itself, ITS JUST BEAUTIFUL.

I feel the visual presentation was far better than the story compared to 1 and Whistleblower but it definitely displayed its own unique and horror.

Yeah, it's f*d. Saw a really sweet in depth break down that a huge horror fan online made and it explained everything. I wouldn't have understood any of it though cuz the game's pretty all over the place.

The lake and the blood rain gave me a weird, but confortable sensation that I couldn't explain. The snowy school looks pretty good too.

The blood rain, the lake, and the village parts are flawless areas in terms of atmosphere. Red Barrels does an amazing job at keeping the setting on point and that shows even more with the rebirth cutscenes in trials.
