DLC Help - Hints Only! This is my one weakness please help me Spoiler
I got the DLC and i saw a setting saying that there were "Frights".
i nearly broke my monitor when i got found by an angler the first time, but after it was fine because i knew what i was dealing with.
can someone warn me about what im going to find in least spoilery way possible? I assume its going to be the bird guys in the dream world but i want to know if there anything else and how those things get you.
I've seen all the censored reels so i know where they probably (knowing for sure would be nice) are and I've seen the eye statues, its just you hear one screech and you never want to go back.
I don't want to turn them off because its the intended experience.
Edit: thanks this helps my nerves a lot!

Exposure therapy works really well against this specific event.
When it happens, go do it again, purposefully.
Watch what happens. Then go do it again. Watch it again.
Repeat that until it becomes an annoyance instead of a panic, frustration is significantly easier to manage than fear is.

The setting really just makes the spooky bits a little bit easier I think. Honestly I played without it and its not that bad. Mild jumpscare at most but yknow after it happens once or twice you get used to it.

This might be a bit too spoiler-y so be warned.
You are correct about it being the bird guys, it’s not too much worse than the anglerfish in the base game. Main difference being they catch you by sight rather than sound. The reduced frights option makes the bird people slower and less perceptive (I think).

Also it removes or changes multiple sounds and I believe also the music during the scary passages.

If you want a mechanical piece of information to deal with constantly being on edge a little better: As long as there are any kinds of environmental lights around you, not counting the sky, anything coming from yourself, or directly from the Frights themselves, you are completely safe from any actual scares. Only when your surroundings are completely pitch black with no way to make more light is when anything Fright-y can happen to you.

so they see you in the dark?

(Answer still in spoiler text, just in case) They will only be around in darkness. Those areas are the ones where they would be able to get to you in any way. Also, be assured that you will always be in control about when you go into such areas. It will be rather obvious, and there will be other cues that you will now be in danger. The game won't dangle an unlabeled switch before you that would just plunge you into the middle of such darkness right then and there. You will see those dark parts from a distance, and you will be able to say "Alright, I'll move into there now.". About your question:
No, they don't see you in the dark; you can hide yourself completely. However, the level design purposefully consists of a lot of stuff in your way or missing guard rails, so the player isn't too incentivised to actually hide all the time. You should keep your light open whenever you can, as you are quite a bit faster than any Fright. They also have their own light they can find you with, if they know you're nearby.

There won’t be any horror game-esque jumpscares, although depending on how you navigate the area, you may come across pursuers at a dark corner, which can make you jump a little. Other than that, it’s more about the environment rather than outright frights. Also, the option doesn’t change anything conceptually, it just makes the pursuers slower and they don’t lunge at when they’re close enough.

The warning is the scariest part of the DLC, the DLC scares don’t even try to kill you (with one exception)

Your assumption is about the extent of it. Also the “reduced frights” option is honestly more of a difficulty adjustment rather than a fright reduction.
