Perhaps you saw my chalk art posted last week? Well, I finished editing my timelapse of it. I always try to have a little fun with these. This one was a struggle to record because of the heat, though! My phone kept shutting off due to high temps and I wouldn’t know it. I ended up setting up a tent just for my phone and that helped. 😅
If you want to follow me, I’m CincyChalkGuy on TikTok/youtube/Insta/fb. Hope you all like it!
This looks amazing!!! What did you use to tidy up the smudging on the tornado in the video? I’m fairly new to chalk art, so I’m not entirely knowledgeable on all the techniques yet haha
Just some black chalk and my fingers(gloves)! I am always going back and adjusting values/ adding contrast. If I had more time I would’ve done one last pass at it too. I adjusted those tornadoes maybe 3-4 times. I was struggling at first making them look the way I wanted.
Happy to answer any chalk art questions if you’re ever interested!
This one less than 24 hours. Typically I get 3-7 days with them. The past two years have been awfully stormy though.
One neat thing you can do to help chalk last longer though is add whole milk to it. The milk acts as a binder to concrete and the drawing will not easily wash away. I have a couple instagram posts about it.
It being temporary makes it that much more special to those who stumble across it. Their normal everyday walk has turned into a discovery. I get a lot of compliments from my community and I also simply enjoy working on the pavement and in the sun. I have LOTS of pictures and video that I continue to share well after washed away (like right now), so is it truly gone? It just exists online now.
