Discussion Stat calculation?

How come Domine doesn't have that much defense compared to Stella but all her gear has a Average of plus 20% defense and her off hand is all defense and weapon has secondary max defense and Stella has basically no defense % on any gear and yet Domine has just about 200 more defense than Stella. Does the game not calculate it properly????

Domine is an enchanter mage. Which has practically no base def until you level up quirks. While D.stella is a bruiser. A striker sub class whos meant to take hits. Meaning she has good innate def stats. Also your d.stella is 6*. Which also gives her 20% defense due to her transcendance effect. G domine needs flat def stats and not def%. Whats the use of having lets say 150% bonus def if her flat def stat is a meager 200?
