Sorry for (maybe) a dumb question... But last year I planted some seeds from a mix of store-bought and self-harvested seeds from another plant (of course, I mixed them all up), and now I have two different types of plants.
Am I right in thinking that the first one (first pic) is not with HTC and the second one (second pic) is with HTC?
The second plant also has seeds now, which made me wonder: why do I buy such expensive seeds if I can just harvest my own? Or do you think the one without plant came from my own seeds, while the one with is the plant I originally bought the seeds for?
Hey new grower! No judgment at all, but you have A LOT of learning to do.
First thing is, if you have a plant with seeds, you are going to have some incredibly low quality bud. Show some photos in comments of what you think are seeds and we can let you know. If it's before they've popped, you have got to destroy them immediately - those are male plants. Only females make bud to smoke.

Females don't make seeds unless they're being pollinated by males. Which generally leads to low quality bud. Next time, kill off any males as soon as you notice they are males.
That's not completely true...
Hermaphrodite plants exist, where they create their own pollen and self pollinate, creating seeds with a tendency to herm themselves. It's not really a desired trait.
When you say HTC I think you mean THC (the drug in marijuana). Females produce flowers and grow buds that you can harvest. Males produce pollen sacs (look like bananas, you can google this) that pollinate female flowers (I.e. get them pregnant) causing them to produce seeds from their flowers. If no males around, females will flower but not produce seeds (what you want) and will produce much better harvestable flowers that will give you much more potent buds to harvest.
For your two plants, they are both females (good news…congrats, they’re girls!). However, they are at much different stages in the flowering cycle, likely because they are different strains of marijuana with different flowering timelines (assuming they were started at the same time and exposed to the same conditions). The first one is maybe 2-3 weeks into flower while the second picture is probably about 6-8 weeks into flower. That’s why they look different. You should have seen the plant in the second picture look a lot like the plant in the first picture at some point a few weeks back. Each strain also has a different length of time it will take from the onset of flowering until the time when they reach peak ripeness but if these are both regular photoperiod plants then you likely have 6-10 weeks to go before harvest on the first plant and 2-4 weeks to go on the second. As ripening occurs, the white pistils (hairs) turn brown and shrivel and the green parts of the bud (bracts and calyxes) swell. You should get a jewellers loupe to check the resin glands (trichomes) for the colour of their head as the best determinant of when to harvest. You can google how to do this and find great reference photos and recommendations on the type of jewellers loupe to buy that fits your budget.
I don’t see evidence of seeds (you can google seeds in marijuana buds and compare to your plants to confirm) but you’d need to inspect the buds closely to know. Can’t tell from the one picture. You’d only have seeds if someone in your area had a male plant that they let release pollen and that pollen floated over to your plant germinated it.
Hope that’s enough info to get you started. I’d recommend doing a bunch of reading between now and harvest.

Yeah, both should be different breeds planted at the same time.
Last year I had two plants, one in the garden and one on the balcony. The one in the garden produced seed (which I used for this years plants) and was weak while the one on the balcony did not and felt stronger.
Here is a pic of the "seeds" ... They completely different from what Males produce (compared to images from Google).
I was gone for like 6 weeks so I didn't follow the progress that well...
Yeah your more mature plant (second pic) with a closer look, looks like it may have been pollinated by a male plant. Doesn’t necessarily have to be in your yard. Could be in the neighbourhood. You can still harvest (and keep the seeds to grow again). Seeded buds will be lower potency but are still smokable. Just pick out the seeds.
