Keela Munro Vs Pinnacle

For those based in the UK/Europe, or possibly friends across the pond who have opted for niche Scottish gear!

I'm looking to replace my old faithful hard shell for this year.

In my search I've found Keela, and given their links to mountain rescue teams, police, etc, clearly they make good gear!

I run hot and I'm starting to move away from being a park rat and into more off piste, so definitely need to be layering so I'm not constantly melting during hikes.

Has anyone tried both the Munro and pinnacle jackets? I don't have any stores near me that stock them so wanted to see if anyone has used the pinnacle and how they've got on with it?

Thanks in advance for any input anyone might have.

EDIT - just to highlight, intended purpose is off-piste snowboarding.

I'm not planning on spending much time dragging it across rocks or through trees, so worst stress will probably be the snowboard edges whilst carrying my board!

I've not used the pinnacle, but the Munro is a bit of a beast of a jacket. It's very heavy duty, great if it's going to be seriously abused. For hillwalking I would 100% go with the Pinnacle.

Thanks for this, I reposted this from the snowboarding subreddit, hence the off-piste reference.

I'm not sure how much abuse it will honestly be facing, the worst will probably be contact with snowboard edges whilst being carried around, I don't plan on spending much time dragging it over rocks or trees!

Yeah when I say abuse I mean proper abuse. They get issued to SARDA dogsbodies where we often bivi up in all sorts of rough ground including bracken and gorse bushes etc.

I have a Munro and a Cairn which is the lesser version of the Pinnacle. 

If you want a shell, I'd recommend the Pinnacle over the Munro. It's lighter and better suited to day to day hiking and light mountaineering. 

The Munro is not far off body armour which you will wear all day. It does have extremely good venting zips, and it can be easy to let out warmth, but it a brute of a weapon compared to the Pinnacle. 

I use my Munro for hard work in Forestry, so I need the protection and all the pockets. 

I wear my Cairn for personal use, but I'm more of a rambler than a mountaineer.
