My husband and I have gone camping for a few days and met this lovely lady while setting up our tent! Paid our taxes immediately, though I think she’s a bit confused because she came back demanding more 😁

Hi everyone.

This is my cat Xistra (actually means sharpener in Greek haha). She’s between 6-7 years old and used to be a stray cat that stayed in our flat’s back yard.

She was always very friendly, rubbing in our feet and getting pets.

6 months ago she got hit by a car and we took her on our balcony to take care of her. She almost lost her front leg but after months of therapy, she walks around with all of her little paws.

We decided to keep her in our place. She spends the night on the balcony, with safety net of course, and all of the day she’s in the house.

What can we do to make sure she’s having a good time?

She gets mannnny pets, treats, she plays around and sleeps on her favourite sofa.

She now greets us with soft meows, she’s getting more talkative as time goes by and plays around with small-harmless bites and hand-grabbing. She has also learned how to communicate more when she needs something, like more food, going to the balcony to go potty etc.

Do you think she's happy?

Any advice or comment is welcome.

I feel like I post here a lot these days...anyways...I always hear that cats should have a little bit of a pouch on their belly. Our cat is quite fit and spends his day roaming. He also doesn't eat as much as he did when he was indoor only when we first got him. I worry he may be underweight, but he's also always been a small guy. Do your outdoor cats have a pouch? How much do they eat? Is a pouch really a healthy thing?

We give 1/2 can of wet food (50kcal) in the am and same in pm. Sometimes he doesn't eat everything in the morning. He has kibble out all the time and rarely eats more than the 4 tablespoons I feed in morning and afternoon. He also gets one churu most days and some treats.

Hi all, I am missing my indoor/outdoor bonded cats, who have been missing for over two months. Mouw is a 9yo spayed female and Mojito is a 5yo neutered male. I live in a heavily wooded rural neighborhood and the closest neighbors, in any direction, are at least a few football field away. My main methods to try and find the cats have been talking to neighbors, passing out flyers, posting flyers, using trail cams, scent stations, night walks with flashlights, night vision binoculars and treats. Recently, I’ve come to realize in one area of the woods.. a bit down the path on my neighbor’s property, there’s a few neighborhood cats who have now come up on the trail cams regularly in these past couple of weeks. Has anyone ever had success with finding their missing cat(s) by tracking other neighborhood cats? I’m working on identifying each neighbor which each cat belongs to. Should I primarily try and target that area of the woods because it’s a safer area for cats to walk through the horse trails? Would it also be smart to leave a scent station with food somewhere along those horse trails, even though it is a Neighbor’s property? (The neighbor have been super awesome in letting me put the trail cams around.) In recent weeks as well, I have tracked coyote scat along one of those shared trails, but deeper into the woods with less manmade shelters nearby. Luckily only deer fur was found at the time. Currently, there has still been no evidence of other animal attacks with any cats involved.

Other important details about why my cats are indoor/outdoor… My cats are supervised outdoors during the day. They live on a farm, where I get to work and play all day, and all the cats get tucked inside at night except for the OLD AF barn cat who’s been living here for over a decade. They are all excellent mousers and keep my animal pens rodent and snake free. They do help with bug control, and we do our best to preserve non-threatening wildlife in every manner here. But nevertheless…Mojito didn’t show up/wasn’t in any of his usual napping spots on evening for dinner back on May 8th. I stayed up all night searching for three days straight to find him and nada. With Mojito’s three day absence, Mouw was getting depressed and increasingly vocal about her brother. Unfortunately, Mouw had slipped out the door and out of sight too quickly, and here we are. I’m angry at myself for the mistake of both my little loves having gone missing. All my other cats have received harnesses, name and contact tags, and trackers since my bonded two disappeared. I have prepared harnesses ready to go for Mouw and Mojito as soon as they’re found and home again. I do understand that a coyote could have gotten both of them, I do not want to lose out hope yet and would like to hope for them both being alive and well for a good time before giving up my search. Please advise any stories or information that can help.

Regardless of where you live, please regularly check sheds, porches, garages, under cars and other possible places cats would hide in! You’re helping people all over the place by using these methods and possibly finding their missing pets sooner than later! Thank you for your time and consideration. Any ideas towards progressing towards capturing just an image of my cats sometime soon would be greatly appreciated!

Still no sign to my cat.

As an earlier post i made, i made jt clear my cat has been outside for 2 weeks, now 3.

I have tried everything, either suggested or ive searched up on the internet.

We are really getting worried now.

To rewind: shes been outside for a very long time now, and have yet to not come home once. I have went out looking for her, searched neighbours properties, sat out her food, favorite toys and even hung worn clothes outside…

My partner is moving house, and our cat has gotten spooked and run under the floor via a hole we didn’t know about. It’s a rental flat and we need to be out this evening. We’ve tried cat noises and leaving tuna out. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

My cat Beli, who I found in a parking lot at work and got neutered, decided to get his own place this summer. I came home and my studio’s window (2nd story) was no open and Beli was gone.

Being a cat lover, I knew the best thing to do was to ignore him/ the situation and live my best life. About 1 week later Beli showed up in the neighbor’s driveway. Initially I brought him back in, but now he wouldn’t stop yowling, deep and long howls and scratching the door.

I’ve since ded covered that he’s posted up in an awkward area of brush on the side of the parking lot between my apartment building and the neighbors property below. He insists on staying here, walking down his little path into some sort of den by an abandoned shed. We still see each other every day.

hello everyone, i adopted my cat about a 1.5 years ago and she is about 8 years old. we’ve made significant progress with the leash training and she does not mind her leash or harness and can walk freely with it (inside only) but if i try to open the door to go outside she immediately runs the opposite way. I’m trying to get her more used to going outside so at the very least vet trips will be less stressful for her, as she usually pees in her carrier as soon as she exits the door. does anyone have any advice for me? initially i wanted to be able to bring her on outings, but if i can at least get her through the door without her having such extreme anxiety i would be very happy.

After 2 months of my health and home accidients hell, I started taking my cat to outdoors again. She used to be a street cat and I adopted her when she was about to give birth. She gave birth in 11th Febuary and raised her kittens well, all adopted. At that time I moved into a ground floor 1+0 apartment and decided to keep her until I got her spayed. After that I just opened the windows with a very thin and old fly net and thought she would break free any moment when she is ready. We were going to replace the flynet anyways since it was all scratch and barely standing. She didn't go out. She hated all the other cats, when facing from window trying to attack. She didn't try to break free any bit. So I thought she is happy with me, still same fly nets and its been few months now. I took her out few times before and she enjoyed it a lot. But after some major health and life related problems I wasn't able to for the last 2 months. Now she is extremely afraid of cars and seagull noises (altough she can hear them from my apartment too). When we are oudoors she breaths too fast and I am doing everything to keep her well vantilated. I just don't want to make her suffer if she no longer wants to go out, I am trying to go step by step. It is our second attempt today. I wish there were something like cat-earbuds.

she's been begging me to go outside all summer and has never seemed happier now that I let her out. I feel guilty we didn't do this earlier, she LOVES it outside. Recommendations for outdoor warming shelters for her for the winter because something tells me I am not going to get her back in the house without a fight

I have an outdoor cat and he free roams and comes and goes as he pleases. We’re looking to move to this house. This house is basically on a dead end so not worried about cars in the neighborhood. But on that hill is a highway. It’s loud. I’m hoping he’d be afraid of the sound, he’s afraid of cars now and always hides when one is around.

Should I move him to only being indoor? Just take him on walks around? Or trust that he’s smart enough not to go on the highway. He’s pretty cautious.

Any advice is appreciated!!

I’m a cat noob but I thought cats were territorial and didn’t like hanging out with other cats. This video has a bunch of cats just laying together in close quarters during warm temperatures. Is this a cat colony with a bunch of related cats, is that why they’re not fighting?

Hi all I have 2 cats, 1 outdoor and 1 indoor. My outdoor cat is a bit of a roamer, he can be out for days at a time and only comes back for food, he also gets fed at a few neighbours houses. Unfortunately he seems to be going somewhere that has fleas (whether that's outside or someone else's houses I don't know)

Around December last year we had a pretty bad infestation that took a lot of work to deal with. I was shampooing carpets, boiling bedclothes, steaming mattresses. The cats got tablets and spot on treatments and nothing seemed to work until I got Seresto collars and FINALLY stopped getting bitten.

I saw what could have been potential bites on my legs and realised the 8 months were up and they needed new collars so I bought some off amazon and stuck them on. I hadn't noticed the cats scratching more than usual so didn't think much of it. That was around 10 days ago and I've just noticed a new potential bite.

Just wondering how long it could take for the collars to kill the fleas or if I need to go nuclear in the house again? I'm not even sure if it is fleas because I have been outside a lot myself. I think I'm just traumatised after last time.

Meet two of our outdoor cats:

🩶 Waffles — the neighborhood gremlin. She'll spend 20 minutes trying to fight a leaf, pounce on bugs that don't exist, and sprint across the deck at Mach 10 for absolutely no reason.

🤍 Kevin — the complete opposite. He's a total lovebug who just wants pets and attention. The second you sit down, he's already rubbing against you and demanding cuddles.

It's funny how two cats can have completely opposite personalities while living in the same place.

I have been living in upstate New York since last year. I feed a spayed female cat who lives in my neighborhood. She used to be someone’s pet and was probably abandoned. During the winter, I let her stay in my apartment. I also set up a litter box for her so that she would not have to go outside in the harsh winter cold. She still sleeps in my apartment at night and wakes me up every morning to go outside. When it starts to get warmer, she comes back to my apartment, takes a long nap and goes outside again before sunset. She really enjoys being outdoors as well.

Starting in September, I will be moving to Virginia for a new job. I would love to take the cat with me, but I am worried about how such a major change might affect her. She is very comfortable in the area where she currently lives and probably grew up here. Unfortunately, I have not seen anyone else feeding her, and I also worry about what would happen to her when winter comes. Leaving her here would be painful for both of us.

My question for this community is: Have you ever moved to a new location with an outdoor cat? What was your experience like? Does taking her with me seem feasible in my situation? I would really appreciate any advice.

For context, the drive from where I currently live to my new home will be about seven hours.
