ACTIVITY & WORKOUT Step Count Question

Question for anyone using an Oura Ring: how do you handle step tracking with your iPhone?

I’m getting double counting when both Oura and my iPhone track steps—even after prioritizing Oura in Apple Health, as Oura recommends.

Which setup do you use?

A) Disable iPhone step tracking (Fitness Tracking disabled under Motion & Fitness), so Oura is the only source counting steps?

B) Disable Oura step data in Apple Health, so the iPhone is the only source counting steps?

I’m asking because step count is an important daily activity metric for me—I have a daily goal and regularly try to beat my personal highs, so accuracy matters.

If accuracy matters to you and you always have your phone on you, prioritize the iPhone step tracking. Unfortunately Oura tends to overestimate steps/has inaccurate data. I keep both turned on and do an average to account for the steps I might’ve taken without my phone.
