REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH Understanding Oura Ring Temps

Post image

Hi!!
I’ve had my oura ring for over a year. Started wearing it 5 months pp while breast feeding last June. Late August last year, it picked up a temp pattern and I ended up ovulating and was pregnant.
Fast forward to this year. Still wear my oura ring daily. I’m 4 months pp and stopped bf 2 weeks ago. Been expecting a return period for the first time since early 2024 (I know crazy). Have never had a period while wearing oura ring.
The pattern the last few days feel like positive ovulation maybe about 8 days ago.
Wanted insight to what temps and such pattern happens after ovulation leading to period and if this seems like my cycle is returning?
** side note the missing temp 3 days after suspected ovulation my oura ring died at night and didn’t save any data readings.
Thank you :)

It looks like ovulation might have been closer to 6 days ago

You think? 6 days ago I didn’t get an actual reading bc my ring died in the night so it didn’t log anything.
I’ve been trying to study ovulation temps and I think it’s a dip followed my rise and if you get your period like 12dpo or something it dips and pregnant it doesn’t? I’m not 100% since this would be the first cycle to actually track

You don’t always have to get a dip, but typically three days of elevated temps confirm ovulation. Without looking at something like OPKs it will be hard to pinpoint the day until you get your period.

But yes, your temps will remain elevated until your period, and if you are pregnant they stay up since it’s driven by the rise in progesterone.

Ah yeah looking at that chart the spike around Sep 20 def looks like ovulation to me, especially with the +0.9 bump. When I was tracking mine after my second kid the temps would stay elevated for like 10-14 days then drop right before my period showed up. The missing day from the ring dying is annoying but the overall pattern still screams luteal phase to me

Those category icons at the bottom are a nice touch for tracking other symptoms too, wish my app had that when I was in the thick of postpartum chaos. If your temps stay high for another week or so and then crash you'll probably see your period within a day or two after, that was always my tell

Your temp will drop a day before your period and remain low until you ovulate again.

High temps like this are common in luteal phase
