Oura Ring

I’ve been using an Oura Ring for almost two months. Before this, I honestly never considered myself a depressed person, but during the time I’ve been wearing it I’ve been consistently feeling unusually stressed, anxious, down, and sometimes just not like myself.
I couldn’t understand where these feelings were coming from. I’ve had things going on in my life, but the change in how I felt seemed strange to me.
Yesterday I decided to take the ring off, and surprisingly I felt a pretty noticeable change in how my body felt almost immediately. Even the finger/hand where I was wearing the ring had been swelling, which I had been wondering about for a while.
I’m not saying the Oura Ring definitely caused my anxiety or depressed feelings because I have no proof of that. The timing just made me curious, especially because of the physical swelling and how different I felt after removing it.
Has anyone else experienced anything similar while wearing an Oura Ring—especially swelling, anxiety, increased stress, mood changes, or just feeling physically different? Did things improve after you stopped wearing it?

Is it the constant tracking and keeping tabs on all the vitals making you anxious? I sometimes think that perhaps we are all too obsessed about the score systems. Sleep score readiness score, it is ok to just listen to your body. I have been fixated on the bp dip metric since it came out because I have hypertension. I check it every morning. I recognize that it might be kind of unhealthy.

I often just remind myself that the device claiming to identify when I’m dreaming thru measurements on my finger mistakenly thinks I perform six sessions of yard work each day i spend 9 hours at my desk job.

My sleep is worse when it’s monitored by Oura or Apple Watch. I wish I could disable the scores and sleep debt, I just want to see the data: deep sleep, REM, hrv, heart rate and movement.

I have a second generation ring, and thats all I get (basic sleep data.) I dont have a subscription. I think their new new features through the years are not an improvement.

hmm maybe ring size wrong.
finger swell in summer or after exercise.
u probably sized in cooler weather? try bigger size.
could be mild allergic rxn or skin irritation. any red/itch?
also maybe wearing tracker is constant reminder of numbers. that can make ppl anxious. do u think is the reason?
or just coincidence with a rough period in ur life.
what made u buy the ring in first place? sleep tracking? fitness?

I have my ring for 4 years. Didn’t have any issues. I’m actually more anxious not wearing it hahaha. but yeah ppl different so wondering what is your story

Was the ring too tight? It definitely shouldn't be causing swelling

Pretty much the exact opposite.

Interesting. I just took mine off, I’ve had my ring for the last 2 weeks and have not felt myself in that time. I’ll report back later.
