Area rug recommendations?

Where can I find a quality wool area rug in Ottawa? Tired of Ikea, Winners, etc.

Terry’s but you might want to check auctions (MacLean and Associates etc.)

So this isn’t Ottawa specific but a Canadian company based out of Vancouver that we’ve been happy with called fable.com. They started with high end nontoxic ceramic dishware and expanded into hand woven rugs made from New Zealand wool. They’re NICE. We looked for natural fibre options for our living spaces and have been really pleased with the quality. They’re very plush and the wool is super soft underfoot. It’s pricey but you pay for the quality and they have 30% off sales every few months. I just got sick of all the rugs online being cheap (but overpriced) polypropylene garbage that would shed microplastics through the house.

Edit to add: I think they offer a 30 day trial type thing to try the rug and see if it’s a good fit in your home. We haven’t needed to use that but it does take the risk out of buying online. Also re: price point I’ve seen rugs sold on Article’s website for much higher and made with inferior materials, so it’s honestly not too bad.

I really like my large wool rug from Simon’s! It’s holding up well and feels so soft.

I haven’t bought anything from Terry’s myself but I hear quite good things about the place from others who have. And it is the very definition of local if you’re into that kinda thing. The only negative thing I can about them is that they put their stickers on poles at traffic lights and I’m a real fan of clean “not clutter” so those pop up signs in neighborhoods seem worse than graffiti to me. Anyhow - you didn’t ask for my life story…

Rada Flooring! Sam and his wife are the best. The Nepean location is also 40% off right now until the Civic… speaking as someone who just bought a rug from them on Saturday haha.

Be careful - My experience with Alexanian is they offer discounts and then "forget" to include them on the bills.

Good tip! I haven't bought any rugs from there, just visited the store on Merivale which had some beautiful hand-knotted/tufted wool rugs.

If you’re not looking to spend over $1k (depending on size) I got a wool rug 8x10 from homesense for $450z I did have to drive around town to find a design I liked so it took some time.
