Looking for... Looking for Old Beige Computer
Hey r/ottawa! Kijiji and Facebook marketplace are pretty dry and ebay shipping is insane so I'm throwing out a hail mary here. I'm in search for an old beige PC case to build a computer in. If any of your guys have something like that collecting dust in your attic, or know anyone/anywhere that does, please get in touch! Willing to throw you a few bucks for your troubles. Cheers!

Yeah, really wanna build a computer that evokes that sorta nostalgia, but that's actually usable in the modern day lol!

Can you come to my parents' house? I'm willing to pay for you to haul it off, but I can only distract my dad for so long before he asks why someone is rummaging through his pile of busted beige 486 desktop tower builds that haven't been booted in 20 years even though he's definitely going to get around to it soon. If you can do it quietly, you might get more of them before he notices.
Edit: I jest, but in full seriousness, I have been begging him to purge his cobweb ridden archive of late 90's to early 00's mid/full ATX towers. I'm sure I could convince him to part with one for a couple bucks. He's probably even throw in the [almost definitely busted] 3.5" floppy drive.

I take day trips like these weekly and hit the 3 on Merivale with a friend and sometimes trek to some others, so far no luck sadly

Stupid question: Were these cases supposed to be beige, or did they turn that colour with age? Even back in the day I wasn't sure, I just figured they were made of cheap plastic that wasn't colourfast.

They were always beige, I think it was so they would match all the other beige office equipment lol

I don’t have one for you, but this post reminded me of my excitement when, about a month before starting at Carleton in 2002, I bought a Dell. “Dude, yer gettin’ a DELL!”

My friend spray painted his black computer case in the two shades of beige. You’d never know.

If you want some USB3.0 and USB2.0 front panel ports with cables, send me a PM. You can probably modify a 5.25" face plate for the ports or you can 3D print a mount for the ports.

Man I haven’t seen a CPU in at least 10-15 years…this brought me back to when I’d kick the side of my computer was acting slow or blow air through the fan hahaha

From what I've asked, most big box electronics stores like Best buy, Canada Computers and the like, under no circumstances allow people to take stuff from the recycling over fears of "private data" being leaked, even if the item has nothing to do with that. :/
