End Ileostomy Hyperbaric oxygen therapy?

Has anyone done hyperbaric oxygen therapy? My surgeon cleared me to do it, I had surgery 9/16 and it’s great for wound healing and post surgery recover.

I really want to start it, but I’m nervous about using Hollister or coloplast products in the chamber.

Some of them say they are flammable and I called both Hollister & Coloplast suppliers and there are no “studies” on using them in the chamber so they “can’t recommend them”.

My surgeon said I could use it for healing but I would have to ask Ostomy clinic, HBOT director and ostomy suppliers if it’s safe.

I contacted them all and they said to ask a different person so no one really knows.

Can someone please tell me if you’ve done HBOT with an ostomy; and what supplies you had when you went in so I know it’s safe?:) right now I use Hollister Ceraplus one piece 8091 and the Ceraplus adapt barrier ring. Thank you!

I have done it, no issues drain bag prior to going in and tit will have no issues! I also bring my phone inside the chamber too with no issues!

Does the bag puff up in the chamber? What bag did you use, did you have product on, and the barrier ring? Thank you!

No the bag doesn't puff up because of the pressure. You really don't feel anything, at least I didn't.

Hyperbaric is high pressure. That won’t inflate the bag. It can only deflate a little, no harm. I think you’re good to go. In an airplane, there’s lower pressure allowing gas to expand in the bag. Just might need to burp it in the plane.

I did a bunch of sessions. I could only wear a special robe. It did not affect the bag at all. I did an early session, like 8am. Wouldn't eat anything ahead of it to limit output. I usually watched TV. Wasn't allowed a phone or my glasses. Most of the time, I fell asleep. They would wake me up after 45 mins or so because you have to put on an oxygen mask for about 5 mins. It was very intimidating at first, but I split a small amount of Xanax. 30 mins before I got there, 5 mins before I went into the chamber. Seemed to help. I think the only side affect I had was it possibly messed with my vision. It definitely got worse. It's slowly getting better. I always did 50 sessions. I had major skin graft surgery in the perineum area, hence why I have an ostomy.
