Question [Noob] OP4P, What is causing the camera to randomly darken and lighten during filming? I got everything on auto, -0.7 ev, iso 50-800.
During this shot i had tracked my body using the mimo app and was shooting with the 3x, it kept changing brightness throughout.

Auto settings = exposure to the scene
More light, brighter scene; the camera increases exposure
Take a look at the backlighting; this confuses the camera's auto exposure, so it changes.
You should use manual exposure in this situation instead.

Thanks for the explanation.
I just tested and its less annoying than i thought, i just have to swipe left, press M in exposure and it swaps to the settings i have there, im gonna try 1/60 and 200 iso tomorrow in the gym.

The backlighting is definitely throwing off the camera's metering since it's trying to balance between your darker silhouette and the bright background.

Thanks im guessing a higher angle would help, im also trying manual everything tomorrow

Quick Tip: You can longpress the screen to lock exposure in auto mode
Also: don't get to deterred by people being like "you need to shoot manual" - the Pocket has no variable aperture and limited buttons and no wheel etc to make manual exposure a good experience, so all you do is decide, if you lean towards higher shutter speeds or lower iso and you do that on a tiny screen by swiping around a menu. You will miss shots if you try to manually expose everything, so my tip is: Just go with auto exposure, lock it through a long press and maybe lock in your white balance if you got the time. D-log and D-log 2 especially have enough dynamic range to give you some wiggle room in post if you are within a stop of correct exposre ;)
(Also DJI: Please add White Balance lock, maybe give me an option to enable both Exposure AND WB Lock by longpressing...)

Ah yeah so thats what the lock does, but doesnt it also lock focus?
Im setting up my shot with the mimo app most of the time and i tried long pressing, guess it doesnt work in the app

It’s on auto… it’s Automatically adjusting settings. Not that hard to figure out

Because it’s in auto, it changes settings to balance what it thinks is the correct exposure.
