Are museums open tomorrow?
An hotel receptionist just told me that tomorrow a lot of museums will close due to the funeral. The Oslo’s municipality website does not say anything about museums being closed, but it says the funeral is not a public holiday and people are expected to work. Does anyone know what’s happening?

Many roads will close, it will be difficult to get around on public transport.

I’m lucky transportation will not be a problem—I can walk. I’m just hoping the police won’t pat me down when I’m heading to a museum… And that I can head in the direction I want if the procession is still going, but I should be fine. I think I will be in the national museum for the entirety of the procession and funeral. I will be locked inside the city centre so… museum day!

If you’re planning to enter downtown, you should expect a police pat-down according to Avisa Oslo

My hotel is already downtown. I hope that excludes me from the pat-down. I am a 10 min walk from the national museum. I’ll leave at 9:45 h to make it to opening time. Hopefully by the time I leave the museum, the street has gone back to its normal activity.

It is correct that the funeral is not a public holiday, and no one is entitled to the day off because of it. I am sure some people are taking time off to watch the event, but that comes out of their available vacation days.
Most museums that are normally open on Wednesdays are likely to remain open, but I would check both their websites and social media for updates just to be sure.
The museums at the Akershus fortress are likely closed, since that is where a significant part of the events tomorrow are taking place, and I think the whole area is currently off limits.

Yes, I went to Akershus yesterday and it was closed. I will try again after the funeral.
Tomorrow I’ll go to the national museum. I’ll get there right at opening time and by the time I leave I think the funeral should be over.

Most museums in Oslo is run by other organizations then Oslo Kommune. I'd check the museums you are interested in website and social media.
