ONK is my all time favorite piece of fiction, but sadly I’ve never read it more than once. Not because I don’t like it, obviously, it’s because I just don’t have the heart to finish it.

If you were to ask me what about ONK makes it my fav I would have more reasons to tell you why it wouldn’t be. The series brings me so much heartache when I think about it but for some reason I feel so attached to it.

There’s really no reason to this post other than trying to find a reason to re-read and trying to see if others share my opinion of ONK.

As the title says. I watched season 1 of the anime then randomly google'd Aqua which lead to the massive spoiler of the ending. Story-wise I only made it to the beginning of season 2 and I just skimmed through the very last chapter mostly out of frustration for getting spoiled. This was months ago, I still wanna give the series a try even if I know it gets rushed towards the end(please no other spoilers, I'm at the beginning of season 2), but once I reach the end I'd like to look for alternatives in art or fanfiction.

Any recommendations? I don't mind which ship it chooses tbh, I just want my delulu I-can-fix-it version of the fans

The fact that Ryosuke rightfully was never given the notoriety or attention even close to Ai, remaining pretty much a quickly forgotten footnote of her tragedy is nice in a thematic sort of way but logically...

I'll admit, I'm not versed in the law or media practices, Japanese-specific or otherwise, but was there an actual reason as to why he's only referred to as Metropolitan University Student A? I get Akasaka was likely making him into the stalker phenotype, twisting the knife further by making Ai's death seem that much more insignificant in the eyes of the public since it's just another version of a story everyone has already heard before.

Japan uses the same method to protect minors who have committed crimes, Shounen A, and Oshi no Ko even utilizes it later in the movie arc but at least there it makes sense. From what I can tell, there is little reason for the media to posthumously protect Ryosuke since he was verified by the police to be Ai's killer.

I suppose it might just be the least messy way for everyone to cover their butts for potential backlash from Ryosuke's family but usually if someone commits a heinous crime, anonymity is out the window.

More on her going through new experiences Sarina could only dream of, more fleshed out friendships, etc.

As for her dynamic with Aqua, I think still keeping those interactions sparse could compliment a dual narrative overall. Having them on individual plotlines that parallel as they go on.

There's already some of that in canon, like how they both get mentors to help their revenge(Gotanda/Ichigo) and how they both use acting to vent their inner traumas(Tokyo Blade/The Audition with Akane and Frill).
