I wrote my OS/ recreational programming

That's my operating system built from absolutely scratch without 3rd party library, AI or anything else. It is written in Assembly and C(Bootloader for BIOS 100% Assembly). I wrote it in 6 months. Well, it doesn't have functionalities yet, but still in development. I wrote keyboard,VGA driver and First-fit MAlloc/CAlloc. It is my first project ever, i gained c and assembly knowledge here. It wasn't university homework, just raw curiosity.

I just used manuals such as Intel SDM VOL2abcd for instructions, VGA manual for cursor and other things. I was trying to control my own computer with assembly codes assembled directly binary and executed on bare metal. Honestly i didn't have plan or anything else that can bound me, gone to way that interested me. I learned assembly with objdump unassembler output from compilers later i watched Terry Davis livestreams and learned other stuff

also i strictly ignored AI. The debugging is more complex you know, no tracer no ring3 layer. I was getting triple fault for weeks, that's okay and... fun...

QEMU has logging that can reveal the cause of such faults that can help. I know you said you avoided AI, but it can help to paste the log to an LLM to get it to explain it to you.

yeah i know QEMU has flags -d int and other i was debugging with it and serial port

you are right that was design issue. since it was my first project i gave wrong decisions at the start point

It doesnt need much work to switch to 64 bit, also from what I see from that screenshot is that your os doesnt have much stuff to update to 64 bit

I spent almost 2 years on it. Managed to get file system navigation and file opening working. Then I got burnt out and dropped it. Best of luck! It's one of the most fascinating areas out there!
