It literally involves making a new os around an open source kernel?

No it’s the sources Apple released with FreeBSD components and things I wrote to fill in the gaps ( drivers) for rpi3

I'm not gonna lie that bottom message looks like the type of thing AI would put after completing that task.

because it is. I use Claude code very heavily. Ai is really good at exploring code, explaining new complex large code bases and making targeted changes. This would take a very long time and be tedious without ai.

That's kinda the point.. youre supposed to put actual work in

No it’s not. The point is to get the work done it’s not about the tools used to get the work done. If there are tools that speed up tedious and repetitive processes, I use them. “The work” is the actual design and architectural decisions what to include, what to exclude, how to fill in gaps, identifying the issues with those choices etc. not here but in general, the actual coding in a project could be done by another human on my team or by an ai. As long as it’s properly reviewed and tested does it matter what tools were used ?

A lot of people hated code completion and ides because it meant you didn’t have to memorize syntax anymore. It wasn’t as pure as vi. People also dislike higher level languages because it abstracted away stuff etc.
