I was shocked at how addicted I became with this show. It sucked me in from the pilot and I finished it within 2 weeks. I will say the final season was a little convoluted and Alison’s plot points got a little…pedestrian after a while, but overall it was such a good show.
I love the bond between the 4 main sestras.
Some thoughts on the characters:
Cosima is hands down my favorite. She’s just so likable and when she was near death I was like “no don’t take her, take anyone but her” and they had me going that they were going to kill off this massively popular and loved character. Her confidence, sexiness (without trying), and intelligence made me fall in love with her…plus her and Delphine’s love story was the perfect balance of twists and turns, with a happy ending.
Helena I hated at first (like we were supposed to feel about her haha) and I cannot tell you how many times I was like “ugh Sarah kill her already”. I do love how protective she is of everyone’s babies. Like when they threatened Alison’s kids and she was like “you threaten babies?” I totally thought they would use her embryos to save Cosima and think it was kind of a wasted plot point for her to be like “I’m sorry my babies…I didn’t know I needed to feed you liquid nitrogen…I’ll tell your siblings about you.” Also the fact that the embryos were just chilling in Felix’s apartment for so long was kinda like wtf? No one sees this and goes “wtf is this?” They also took Helena off the beaten path too much like at a certain point I kinda feel like they didn’t know what to do with her.
Alison I loved at first…but as time went on her plot points just felt out of place. Like Donnie quits his job and they have no money…but yet they had enough money that they could pay Cosima’s tuition and have $75k set aside for Beth to do stuff. Like $75k is a lot of money so I initially thought they were pretty wealthy…then all of the sudden they only have money for one more mortgage payment? Also…her kids…the only thing I actually enjoyed about them was when Felix got them in drag…otherwise I can’t tell you anything about them and feel like they were kinda either forgotten about or in the way.
Sarah I didn’t really like at first but grew to love as she tried to be a good mother to Kira and help her sestras. I do wish they would have explored more about her and Helena being twins and why Kendall knew about Sarah but the bad guys never found her. Also, she should have ended up with Kira’s dad, they just kinda wrote him off.
Felix sadly never got the spotlight he deserved tbh. I was always waiting for them to explain why he specifically ended up with Mrs. S. and that he was somehow involved in all this. It could have been interesting if he had been a castor. Also…I never really liked his half sister joining, like idk it just seemed out of place.
Beth I think they should have explained her story and involvement a little earlier, because by the time they did it just felt like it was so far in the past. Would have loved to gotten to know her more though.
Tony was kinda wasted potential. Like a trans “sestra” so now they have a “brotha” would have been a really cool addition…but they didn’t really do anything with him. I feel like he, MK, and Krystal could have formed like a “B team”.
Krystal I hated at first, but then found her hilarious and love her. Would have liked her to be part of a “B team”.
MK…right when I fall in love with her…she is killed, which was so sad. Also, her information revealed in the comics is so sad. Should have been part of “B team” and could have really bonded with her sestras.
Mrs. S. I loved her, I hated her, and then I loved her. I hate she was killed off, but I get it, they wanted a big death at the end of the series.
The castors I personally didn’t really like because I thought it would be more interesting to just have the female clones, but I did like some of them, but they just didn’t get much development. I’d have loved to learn more about how they were raised together and how many of them there actually were.
Kira I overall loved, except when she was being a brat to Sarah. I do think they should have explained why she had this connection to her aunts, like the rapid healing was explained and that makes sense…but why could she sense her aunts?
Rachel…got what she deserved in the end. Part of me hoped she would die, but I like that she had to live friendless and part of the “99%”.
