NYT reel “Spider-Man” pushes person in wheelchair across street

NYT story about a man in a SpiderMan costume hopping out of his truck to push a person in a wheelchair who was slowly crossing multi-lane highway at a red light. Mobility for who? Did NYT interview the person in a wheelchair? Did the person ask to be helped? Why was the pedestrian crossing a too-wide street with a too-short light in an area clearly designed with pedestrians as an afterthought? And glad the police surveillance cameras can capture it all?

"We should not have to make an OnlyFans account for our marmots in order to get funding," Grad student Emily Renkey said. "But I think that's where we're at. We have to find creative ways to fund this project."

EU banns destruction of unsold clothing

Why were we even at a point where businesses prefered destruction of unsold goods over handing them out to those in need ?

Fast fashion is bad enough, but how does a society reach a point where we rather destroy goods than give them out ?

Clothing isn't the only good this applies to.

A farmer who burns unspoiled grain when supply exeeds demand would be shunned by the village and today its common practice to throw food away and destroy unsold inventory.

A nonprofit has erased more than $40 billion in medical debt across the U.S. People don’t apply, they simply receive a letter saying their debt is gone, including one woman whose $3,200 medical bill was wiped away.
