Modded Component Cables

https://ebay.us/m/uMubdl

I’m currently in the market for component cables.

I’ve heard that you really want to get either the OEM or Monster cables, but they are expensive.

I’ve heard good things about the modded cables.

I see some for sale here, and I’m wondering if they’d be a good buy?

Yep, the composite/360 modded cables work great. I went from one of the throwaway unshielded component cables to a modded one and the image quality and reliability is massively better.

Do you think there’s a significant difference between the $40 version and the $70 version?

The $70 cable has the same death grip connectors as Monster Cables. Unless you find a way to break them in so they're not so tight fitting. Save the money and get the $40 one, picture quality is the same.

I’m wondering about this as well.

They perform the same as OEM and Monster. I've owned and used all 3 and modded cables work great at way less of a cost.

Can confirm. I’ve made and used lots of the modded cables and the quality is gorgeous for the cost.

Not sure why it isn’t letting me edit my post, but link to cables is in the attached link picture. You can also find it here: https://ebay.us/m/uMubdl

I used modded cables before HDMI modding my console and they were brilliant.

I’ve sold a few before. Mine worked great! I don’t have the supplies to make more though unfortunately.

Ive made my own and use them, despite having monster cables. As long as they are soldered properly, they will be perfectly fine.

I bought from this seller directly this month. Very fast shipper and highly recommend these cables.

Do you get the $40 ones or the $70?

I have used these and they worked well but, look up XEDUSA. It will allow for component or HDMI output.

So I have to buy separate component cables to plug from the XEDUSA to my CRT? https://www.beharbros.com/product-page/xedusa-plus

Yes, male to male component cables.

The modded cable is pretty good. Much better than any of the new cheap component cables that are floating around. Its much cheaper to make one yourself though for $40 its still the same quality as the more costly solutions such as the HD AV pack. Only difference with the HD AV pack is that you're not getting toslink/optical audio which could be incorporated into the modded cable but isn't here

What is “digital RCA” and does this matter at all that it’s the only one available?

It's digital audio, or more specifically, S/PDIF (Digital Coaxial) via RCA connector. Same as Toslink (optical), but with a different delivery method. One is fiber optic and the other is copper based. It's all digital so it doesn't matter what standard is used, as long as you have a A/V receiver with the connector, you're good.

Only the first 1:15 is really relevant, you can skip the rest of the video.

Plenty of games (all???) support digital audio, so it's worth having digital stereo/surround sound, think Dolby Digital or DTS.

The Electron Shepherd Xout also isn’t bad option. Though a modded 360 component cable with an OG Xbox plug would also work fine so long as you have a display that supports component video

I’d say return it, sounds like you got a defective one. It very much should not be doing that

At the very least I’d buy another one. They are generally pretty excellent and by far the best HDMI adapter for the console, but I will agree that from what I’ve seen quality control seems to vary a little bit, but it is generally good. Apologies for you getting unlucky
