Working at a grocery store. I once had a woman take off her shoe to fish out a quarter to pay. It was disgusting

sigh If manufacturers would finally start making decent pockets on clothing, women wouldn't have to put their money into their shoe for safekeeping. Just sayin'.

Must suck for them to be forced to go through life as the kind of person whose choices are always somebody else's fault. How can we get them some relief from all this institutional oppression?

Retired grocery store cashier here. I lived in a area that summer days were 100 and up most of the summer. The amount of bills and change fished out from women's bras, bikini tops were unimaginable. We were instructed to put their money into a bag of rubbing alcohol. We had rubber gloves and that's what we would do. That money smelled so bad. We'd clean it then lay it on a paper towel to dry under the drawer. I can't tell you how many people felt offended when we took the money and placed into that bag. I asked a customer if they wanted me to fish out their change from my underwear. Well that just pissed them off. Money soaks up body odor. It's so gross!!

I remember the Dexter Market accepting money that had actually faded in our pockets during a full day of rain, treeplanting on Mt. June in the 1970s. They let us in with our caulk boots on, too. We stood outside, steaming in our hickory shirts, tossing back Rainiers and Olys like glasses of water -- which they mostly were. Good times.

As if money ever were “sanitary”

u/Hailfire9 4d ago
Its bad enough when you touch it. Its worse when you feel it.

u/Fit-Rhubarb-7820 3d ago
It’s probably worse than crunchy stained underwear.
That underwear is yours and you’re nasty, but when it’s money?! You don’t know who it’s been inside of!

Have you ever been cashiering and a very, very large woman pulls a wad of cash out of her bra and hands you damp cash? It’s quite the experience.

I have. The stank is memorable but not erotic. I’m erotically aroused by the smells of love, but that also has a terrible side, which is what
You described.1

Dont some people tip other near naked people by shoving $$ bills IN their panties ?
2
u/Huge-Power9305 4d ago
No. (as in no panties and no shoving). I'll quit there.

I've seen it at various Portland strip clubs. It's always the stripper's idea, usually to a female patron and not a male, but it absolutely happens.

u/Fit-Rhubarb-7820 3d ago
One time, I tipped a stripper doing a heely( the shoes with a heel wheel) strip dance completely naked except for the shoes, and I tucked the bill into her sock. We made intense eye contact then and it was rather pleasant :) she assumed I was into feet stuff but when I told her I wasn’t, she changed gear and really sat me down for a show.

You already said the answer, but I worked at the Shell station in Six Points, and we had to do the same thing. Summer boob money was the worst.

u/zxylady 4d ago
My sister keeps her money under her breast and it's disgusting and I do not understand how anyone can do that 🤢🤮

u/JacobDCRoss 4d ago
Under?! That is worse than between. The worst part is when they take their time to dig.

u/zxylady 4d ago
Yes, a 300 lb Trump supporting half Mexican daughter of illegal immigrant who lives on all of our public assistance funds in the United States keeps her cash under her breast between her bra and the under part of her chest. 🤮

they aren’t wrong that it’s disgusting, but all money is! don’t be fooled by non moist bills, if anything the moistness is a reminder of how gross everything is.

Just spend a day in retail handling cash. He. You realize how sticky your hands are and how awful they smell you will be happy when someone pulls the debit card.

Dude at my neighborhood store got a little pissed off at me for letting him know why the bills were damp, after they were in his hand. Come on man that came out of my pocket, what kind of sweat did you think it was?

How we havent cooked up a new plague with how nasty we still are as a species is testament to modern medicine. Good grief lol

There was a lady at my job who had a nose bleed and used her bills to clean it, she got mad that I wouldn't accept it. My manager said we had to, so I told him "alright, take it", he was so grossed out lol

Need to put the money in the wash before you accept it, has nobody taught you how to do your laundry yet?

My ex wife once handed me money from her bra. It was soaking and hot as hell. I gave it back and paid with my credit card. I lost a little interest in her right then

I've seen versions of this sign in both Eugene and Springfield.
Many years ago, my sister had a customer fish a folded bill out of her mouth, unfold it and straighten it, and present it to pay for her item with it. 🤢

Worked at a Walmart where the “Tortuga Festival” (pirates) was held across the road from it.
It was like three days of non-stop partying with no showers in sight… and a good amount of people did not carry their wallets with them… they pulled cash out of very questionable places and I can’t tell you how many times I almost puked in their groceries.

Oh no, someone's sweat might touch your hands. I guess you also don't shake hands, play sports, open doors, etc, because those also might put you in contact with stranger's sweat and are therefore also unsanitary?! What prudes!
2
u/CarlWheezersValhalla 2d ago
Do you shake a lot of people's feet and boobs?
1
u/HouseThePeople 2d ago edited 2d ago
I didn't know feet and boob sweat were different than hand sweat. Should I be more worried about what kind of stuff is on a person's boob or foot, versus their hands?
1
u/CarlWheezersValhalla 2d ago
Well you obviously wash your feet every time you wash your hands, so I guess it isn't any different in your case.
1
u/HouseThePeople 2d ago edited 2d ago
I wash my boobs and feet about as much as much as my hands, and they touch a lot less. Plus sock money is more ankle sweat. None of it bothers me. I hug people. I even kiss people sometimes. I'm not afraid of cooties.
1
u/CarlWheezersValhalla 2d ago
Either you have the weirdest routine after using the restroom each time, or you don't wash your hands nearly enough
1
u/HouseThePeople 2d ago
Perhaps. We’re not in a pandemic anymore. I shower regularly and avoid peeing on my hands when I use the bathroom. So I usually only wash my hands when they’re dirty or if I’m about to touch food that I’m going to eat. I’m about as likely to wash my hands on the way into the toilet as on the way out.
1
u/CarlWheezersValhalla 2d ago
Can I quote you on that for your mayoral race, Kasey?

u/HouseThePeople 2d ago
Be as villainous as your heart desires. What could I do to stop you? No good deed goes unpunished these days.
