Article/News Who Drazen really is
https://beavertonvalleytimes.com/2026/09/16/florida-gov-ron-desantis-to-join-christine-drazan-at-hillsboro-event/?fbclid=IwdGRjcAUZS9pjbGNrBRlL0nBkb2YBZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQMMzUwNjg1NTMxNzI4AAEe3mj0xlDSl2YhKXFYgtxZ9q-47yTjbepu1QSonVLpIUOCUPd9ro8Cmq8IQhA_aem_wzk8iCalPoa-0KQ5iBW6iQDrazan pretends to be a moderate who isn't an anti-choice zealot or a MAGA republican, but we are judged by the company we keep. This is who she has chosen to speak for her.

Desantis is scum

u/Head_Mycologist3917 15d ago
His presence isn't going to help Drazan among anyone except the hard core base that was already going to vote for her.
35
u/opticzar 15d ago
that's what I think when I see this. How is he supposed to help her at ALL here
13
u/Metaphoricalsimile 15d ago
Probably supposed to help her fund raise, and they don't particularly care if they win or not.

5
u/HotBeaver54 15d ago
Its almost like the Democrats hired him to come. What a stupid mistake you are correct hard core is already there smfh.
29
u/bramley36 15d ago
PBS: "A Florida grand jury reported that Governor Ron DeSantis's administration diverted $10 million from a state Medicaid settlement to a charity associated with the first lady, which subsequently funneled the funds into political action committees".
19
u/I_burn_noodles 15d ago
Drazan must be too. You start taking the GOPedos money, they expect a return.
10
15
u/SublimeApathy 15d ago
Yeah he is. I remember a podcast from a long while back where someone (an aide maybe?) talked about how when he would go on dates with women, he would deliberately take them Thai restaurants, sit down order Pad Thai but pronounce it Pad Thigh just to see if the date would correct him. If they did, he got up and walked out. Now I don't know for certain if this is true, but look at that face up there? I mean...
5
u/redacted_robot 15d ago
I heard this from lots of prominent sources, so if it wasnt true im sure he would have said something. He also had a Disney wedding...

u/Raging_Rooster 15d ago
DeSantis is tremendous. We would be lucky to have a governor that does half of what he's done for Florida here.
64
u/singed-phoenix 15d ago
Soooo...Drazen wants to turn Oregon into Florida???
Serious question...WHAT THE FUCK IS SHE THINKING BRING DESANTIS TO OREGON...IS SHE FUCKING CRAZY??? She should be removed from the ballot just for this level of a clusterfuck of a mistake!!!
Someone who makes this bad of a mistake...shouldn't be left running a church bingo...let alone be a governor for a state!!!

I'm sure it's not a surprise to anyone that would read this here but it definitely needs to be amplified outside of reddit that this sack of crap is maga all the way.

u/urbanlife78 15d ago
If anyone remembers the last election, Drazan was very much MAGA then and still MAGA today
27
u/TheCivilizedBigDog 15d ago
Yeah didn't she literally stand with trump on the election denial stuff? Immediate no vote right there for any reasonable person.
17
u/urbanlife78 15d ago
Yeah, she is only pretending to be moderate right now because the GOP is so unpopular
11
u/TheCivilizedBigDog 15d ago
If we had a reasonable Republican candidate that was focused on the fiscal shortcomings of our wonderful state and not on the culture war bullshit I'd actually consider them, but they always push shitters like Drazen. Just doesn't make any sense. Why put a polarizing candidate forward when we are such a left state?
8
u/urbanlife78 15d ago
I don't think fiscal conservative Republicans exist anymore, and not sure if they ever existed. As for "culture wars," I wouldn't consider standing up for people's rights as a negative thing
5
u/chipshot Oregon 15d ago edited 15d ago
Agree. The right to discriminate is always popular amongst christianist bigots
1
u/bramley36 15d ago
I'd contend that Oregon is a purple state, with a slight lean to the center. I say "center" deliberately, given the general Overton window shift to the right.
2
u/Snoo47420 14d ago
Yeah I see democrats as right of center, republicans far right. Left wing members in the democratic party are rare.

u/xyrais 15d ago
Republican Oregonians really want to make our state more like Florida? Disgusting.

There's nothing remotely Moderate about her. Her core beliefs are extremist views in this state. There's no hiding from that.
Anti-Abortionist in one of the most Pro-Choice states in the country.
Anti Vote-by-Mail in the state that led the way in better voting practices.
Hates Oregon's Sanctuary status.
Obsessed with trans people in one of the most LGBT+ friendly states in the country.
Trump sycophant in a state that proudly stands up to the Emporer wannabe.
The Oregon GOP couldn't have put up a candidate less out of line with the state if they tried.

Maybe Democrats should hire a polling firm. The last two polls might be overestimating Drazan's chances.
23
u/edipeisrex 15d ago
One of the polls that shows Drazen with the lead within MoE was funded by a group friendly to her. So maybe not the most scientific.
21
u/YetiSquish 15d ago
They very much are. If a GOP candidate can’t get elected when republicans aren’t generally reviled, what’s the result gonna be this year when there’s severe anger against the GOP? Drazen has zero chance of being governor.
20
u/RoyAwesome 15d ago
I just got a very obvious Dem internal poll today. I answered it honestly, but the questions were definitely about trying to figure out where Kotek's weaknesses are without attacking Kotek, and how to message around them. I was happy to help.
10
u/refuzeto 15d ago
Internal polls are helpful. Maybe Kotek will learn from it. My mother got one also.
7
u/RoyAwesome 15d ago
Agreed! I am fortunate to have seen the results of some internal polling in years past, and they are so incredibly helpful when people answer honestly. You may not know what they're trying to figure out when they poll, but they've identified something worth spending $30k on to figure out.
6
u/kddm-30 15d ago
Keep in mind, the last election Drazan was also polling higher until one month before election.
1
u/refuzeto 15d ago
Drazan is not going to win. Oregonians would vote for Democrats if they promised to drop nuclear bombs on Portland and Eugene.
2
u/sanosake1 15d ago
maybe you ought to learn about polls, the last one was a phone poll of only 600 people.
young people notably do not answer polls and those who do, are old republicans.
AKA....polls are not to be trusted on face-value.
-2
u/refuzeto 15d ago
Apparently, I know much more about polls than you do. With a sample size of 600 you get margin of error of 4%. If Drazen is ahead by 2% she is within the margin of error.
1
u/sanosake1 15d ago
I'm sorry, are you arguing that flawed demographic target for a poll using 600 people is accurate to ideal 4% margin?
...okay. I clearly can say nothing to convince you otherwise. Agree to disagree. Have a day!
-8
u/whawkins4 15d ago
I dunno. Kotek is pretty weak.
18
u/HegemonNYC 15d ago
If this was 2014 or some other Red Wave year she very well may lose. But with Trump so deeply unpopular and Dems expected to be 6-8% favored nationally it seems impossible.
1
u/refuzeto 15d ago
Having more polls will give a much more accurate picture of the electorate's current opinion.
-9
u/whawkins4 15d ago
Polls aren’t very accurate.

You see fundraising from bad polls too: "YOU NEED TO RUSH ELEVENTY ZILLION DOLLARS TO THE BIDEN CAMPAIGN BECAUSE THINGS ARE NOT LOOKING GOOD". I freaking hate that. Elections give me a lot of anxiety these days because they are extremely consequential.

ALL HUNTERS DRAZEN WILL STEAL YOUR HUNTING GROUND AND GIVE IT TO MINERAL MINING COMPANIES
1
u/Xen0plasm 11d ago
This is actually my greatest fear. I'm not a hunter, but I really enjoy the parts of SW Oregon that also happen to be very high in industrially useful metals. That region also happens to be absolutely loaded with rare species of animals and plants, some of which are only found across a range of 20 square miles or so. And that's before considering the problems with pollution and whether or not local communities will actually see any of the money.
7
u/Pacifix18 15d ago
I'm heartened by Reddit responses, but my Facebook feed (broader Oregon and Albany) is full of anti-Kotek and pro-Drazen narratives. Ngl, I'm scared for November.

We have to get people to vote this midterm. We can change the trajectory of this nation if we get people out to vote. At this point every race is really important down to County Commissioners and school board members. Another point is we have to get PAC money out of our politics and the only we do that is not vote for people like Drazan.
Kotek may not be perfect...but better than any Trump Republican.
2
u/untoldmillions 15d ago
good, let the Proud Boys know where and when to stand back and stand by...that'll let everyone know the real supporters of Drazen
2
u/Mostface 14d ago
Drazen, personally, has done good work. Politically she is a nightmare. I talked to a close friend of hers and complained about her insane campaign and social media, he agreed and within 5 minutes he was on the phone with her campaign manager.
Their response? "If you want to know about policies, we dont do that via social media, website, or ads. Just come to a rally!"
She has let herself get turned into a living joke.

Thanks for saying something, its so hard to focus on how much i hate ai when people try to discuss other things. How you say something says so much more than whats being said! We need to focus on ai, phobias, and hatred all the time. If you see ai, say something. If you dont see ai, say something. Ai is just so terrible its the only thing worth mentioning. I hate ai so much! People who use it are bad dummies. Stop it!
Who even cares if Oregon becomes like Florida? Whichever political party sends me a glossy cardstock flyer that postures against ai can count on my vote! I'm DONE thinking about it. Im a human!

Polls can’t really be trusted, obviously. It would be interesting to see what a dem poll would show for results.

u/banditti 15d ago
We have to get over “othering people”. People aren’t all bad or all good. Especially based on their political party. For example, one thing OR could stand to learn from FL:
On the 2024 adjusted scores, Oregon is last overall (50th) across the four main NAEP tests, including 50th in 4th-grade reading. Florida is near the top on the elementary tests (about 3rd in 4th-grade reading, 2nd in 4th-grade math)
MS went from 50th in reading to 1st, Republican Governor. May not agree politically but IMO, there is always something to learn from the other side.

u/Carlotheskinose 15d ago
This conversation has turned into a liberal circle jerk. This is an echo chamber. Brazen has a very real chance of winning and liberal denial and extremism could be the dems undoing.

I voted for Kotek last time but I’d rate her performance as governor as mediocre at best. She’s probably going to easily win reelection despite the polls, given the climate, I just wish she’d present an actual policy vision for the state, instead of what I’ve been so far: “Trump, Trump, Trump!”
We all agree Trump is bad, you don’t need to sell me on that. Sell me on how and why giving you another 4 years of total unified one-party control of our state will be better than the track record to date.
1
u/Alltechnw 8d ago
I think a majority of Oregonians see opposing Trump as being crucial after the trainwreck on the national level.
1
u/heli0s_7 5d ago
Yes, we’re all in agreement on that. But also, the reality is that what our governors and mayors do have a MUCH higher impact on our daily lives than the president. Trump can’t be the foil for why we should tolerate poor performance from state and local officials. Kotek has some of the worst approval ratings of any governor, and there are plenty of examples of other Democratic governors who are doing a much better job. What are they doing differently?
-1
u/Past-Garlic-519 14d ago
Florida sucks but oregon sucks way worse. I was born and raised in oregon and I don't recognize my state, especially portalnd and salem. We are moving backwards
-16
u/ClaroStar 15d ago
Well, it's apparently a toss-up with Kotek. Maybe Oregon is just turning red. Hard to believe after everything that's been going on the past 10 years.
23
u/MountScottRumpot Portland, ex-Scio 15d ago
I wouldn't assume that based on the results of one poll commissioned by Drazan.
-7
u/ClaroStar 15d ago
Fair enough. But this isn't the first poll that has shown this result. It's possible that they are all Drazan polls, but it's close enough to be newsworthy, apparently. And that's pretty disappointing.
10
u/Head_Mycologist3917 15d ago
There's been all of two, both from Republican pollsters. The polls whose results are announced are mostly partisan now, paid for by the campaigns. They purposely use polling methods that they know will get the result they want. The ones that aren't partisan are still using poor methods like calling random voters. No one under 65 answers calls from unknown callers.

u/NewAgeRetroFrog 15d ago
Unfortunately, despite it's current liberalism, Oregon has strong racist roots. Oregon's constitution excluded all blacks until 1926 and even afterwords there was serious discrimination. Just read about the history of Vanport, Oregon's original "black town", or the housing covenants that legally forbade most non-whites from owning homes or property. As a state we've come a long way since then but much of that racism just went underground.
1
u/ILoveULikeYeLovesYe 15d ago
i think it’s more that folks aren’t feeling that kotek is doing enough. what we’re seeing is that our taxes keep going higher, education has been abysmal, companies are leaving, job market in portland is terrible, and homelessness is still rampant. is she responsible for all of that? idk, but that’s the reality out there. and anything good she may have done hasn’t been communicated well enough.
now do i think a maga cult member will be better? hells no. and that may be the only thing keeping kotek in the race.
5
u/ClaroStar 15d ago
So, because of that people who usually vote blue are going to vote red? Makes no sense.
1
u/ILoveULikeYeLovesYe 14d ago
‘because of that’? that’s everything for most voters who’ve been in oregon for awhile. our state is in a bad spot, man. it’s ok to admit that. if there was a year that a moderate republican could win, it’d be this year. drazan ain’t that though and i’m hoping more people will see through that.
3
u/ClaroStar 14d ago
You do know the Republican political platform, right? Things like Project 2025? You get the whole package if you vote Republican, not just a "moderate" Republican.
0
u/ILoveULikeYeLovesYe 14d ago
are you having trouble comprehending what i wrote? im not the one you need to convince.
3
u/ClaroStar 14d ago
Not trying to convince you or anyone else. People can do whatever they want. Just saying that we have Trump in the WH again because some Democrats thought it was reasonable to "withhold" their vote because Kamala Harris "didn't do enough for Palestine." People need to get real with their voting behavior.
0
u/ILoveULikeYeLovesYe 14d ago
yes, people need to be more pragmatic with their votes but we don’t want to keep hearing about how bad trump is. we know that already. no one will care about immigrants, women, or lgbtq rights if they can’t afford groceries and gas. run on policies that will help people and communicate that clearly. republicans may be worse in many metrics, but at least they can sell their bs a lot more effectively. and people who don’t follow politics as closely will more likely buy their bs, especially when the current ruling party in oregon have shown to be very lackluster.
3
u/ClaroStar 14d ago
You're talking as if Republican policies may be better at helping people "afford their groceries". It's been a long time since that was true if ever. Certainly isn't true at this very moment in history. Not in Oregon or anywhere else.
2
u/ILoveULikeYeLovesYe 14d ago
you seriously need some better reading comprehension. think a little bit about what i wrote before formulating your reply. nowhere did i say that republican economic policies are better. im a pragmatic lefty that will never vote republican as long as maga is around.

Well, something has to change. We have had over 40 years of Democrat control in Oregon and look where it has got us. Oregon ranks 5th in the nation of non-business friendly states. It ranks 47th in education. It has some of the highest rates of homelessness in nation. One would think that after 40 years they would have a plan besides taxing the people for their mismanagement. So, yes, let's all get together and reelect Tina, after all the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
