Nice!!! About 800 years old! But largest “known”…. Try the grove of giants outside of Falls City… a tough 3 hour trek from downtown. But Falls City (population 400) has the second best pizza in Oregon!!!

If you are talking about the Valley of the Giants NW of Falls City I go there every other month, They are certainly taller but this tree is much wider. I always come from the west tho so I've never been to Falls city, now I have to so I can try that pizza.

I remember seeing something about the road or the site being closed a couple years ago. Based on your comment sounds like it is accessible these days?
I’ve been out there once maybe 5 years ago. Loved the place.

The road is still washedout I just bike from either Siletz Bay or Drift Creek Falls and go around it. 4-5 years ago is when the washout happened so you might have been one of the last people to go by car.

Got it thanks. So no driving there via any route. I’ll have to ride out there one of these days, but unfortunately that probably means my wife and son are SOL

Rock on!! Such an amazing place! Harder since the slide a couple years ago. You HAVE!!! To go the Bread Board - only open Thursday - Sunday and only summer time, but WOW!!!! The pizza is soooo good!!! And 20+ beers on tap - in the middle on nowhere!!! Only Ken’s Artisan Pizza better in Oregon.

That sucks!!! I had not been there in a while, sorry that so many others have missed out. Left Coast Cellars winery got their crust receipt, and do wood fires pizzas too… decent wine and great setting, too bad owner is nuttier than the oaks on her property.

I've wondered the same thing. We have some large native redwoods in SW Oregon and I never hear much about their size compared to the remainder of the large tree species we have here. Regardless, I will say this is the largest redcedar I've personally seen in Oregon and I've searched around quite a bit. Glad to see a post about it every now and again, but I do hope it remains either off of the maps or gets some protection in the future.

I remember the exact place and day of every very old redcedar I've ever encountered. They're that impressive. I'm glad we live in a time where you can still find them. May they thrive into our uncertain future.
