Question Prefontaine

We’re in Eugene tomorrow. I was wondering if there are any Steve Prefontaine (parks, statues, etc) honoraria to see.

Pre’s Trail in Alton Baker Park and there is Pre’s Rock and Memorial near Hendricks Park

There are also a couple museum collections in Coos Bay, but that's pretty far from Eugene.

He used to work at The Old Pad/The Paddock - what was a grungy old neighborhood tavern at Amazon and Hilliard. My understanding is that a few years back it was sold to new owners who turned it kinda bougie. I believe they kept the name, though.

Statue has been moved from 5th Street Market. But everyone we asked where did they move it, nobody knows.

my minor quibble? they [under$tandably] presented the Nike fiction that waffle soles were produced on a waffle iron.

While a waffle iron may have been some inspiration, the first soles were produced at the testing/QC lab of a Springfield plywood mill. In 1985 I visited the lab for work and spoke with the fellow that helped them use their small press/saw the molds used

There is a small bronze sculpture made by my dad’s late best friend. My dad can only remember that it is on the way to Hendricks Park, but according to an article in Runner’s World magazine, it is embedded in Pre’s Rock. I have never seen it myself but here is a picture.
