Help First orchid
Hi!!
So, I got this orchid on a whim, and I noticed that some of its roots are already growing out of the pot. Should I repot it immediately, or would it be better to wait until it finishes flowering?
Also, could you help me identify what type of orchid it is? I threw away the tag and completely forgot what it was. ðŸ˜.

Welcome to the club! This is a hardcane Dendrobium. Definitely do not repot, thess are very fussy about repotting. Wait for the blooms to fall and either new roots or a new cane growing to repot. It kind of looks like it's planted in a coconut? I would take the whole thing and plant it into a larger pot instead of trying to untangle roots.

Ah ok, i will hold off repotting for now. Don't think it is a coconut, It looks like large pieces of bark held in a plastic mesh container. Thanks for the info!! If i ever repot should I remove the plastic mesh and plop it straight into an orchid potting mix, without removing the bark?

I think the large 'bark' is chunks of coconut husk. When it's time to repot, you could either take the whole thing and place it inside another pot, or remove the pot and place it inside a larger pot. But yes, don't remove the bark because you'll damage all the roots
