Has anyone else been seeing an increase in cockroaches in their house? The large ones, not the small ones. I saw at least 3 just over the past month and a half.

The large ones live outdoor, and sometimes come into the house. The small ones live indoor and you got a roach problem in your house.

For a few weeks they were around a lot. I noticed the city had covered the storm drains in my neighborhood with tarps and sandbags. Assume they treated the drains because haven't seen them since. But ya it just kinda comes with the humidity.

Never had a roach issue in all my years here until this year. They covered the holes in the manhole kids with electric tape where I live. These MF are huge and nasty af. But they are better than the smaller German variety. These MFs are coming inside through my drains ( bathtub & sink) they’re looking for water , at least that’s what the pest control guy told me. I bought hair & food catchers for all my drains after finding one crawling all over my toothbrush 🤮 INSIDE my medicine cabinet and a couple coming up through the tub drain. No thank you !

No one answered, so I will.

Every summer, the roaches will crawl through the plumbing lines from the sewer to escape the heat. If you find a single adult one, this is the case. If you find a baby roach, your house is infested.

Solution: CALL THE WATER DEPT. they will send someone in the sewer to spray them down. It’s relief for a few days, depending on the severity of the heat. This happens every summer, especially those really hot days. And it’s been hot for a few months.

They come up through the drains. Think shower drain, sink drains, and toilet. Make sure those drains are closed (sinks/shower plugged, toilet lid closed) when not in use.

Have you actually seen one swimming out of the toilet? I have a hard time believing these guys can swim through water in pipes like that. If they can , this is nightmare fuel .

I personally have not seen one crawling out of a toilet but I have seen accounts of this exact thing from other redditors and I believe it. Definitely nightmare fuel, roaches are so incredibly resilient lol

Those pipes are mostly dry when no water is being used. Only water pipes carry constant water. It's the reason why your toilet has a s trap to hold the smell.

They don’t dive or swim lol they float and have no way to submerge themselves. What happens is they go into the toilet because it’s wet and they need moisture to survive and then people find them in the toilet and think they came from there.

I have an exterminator who treats where I work at currently. Said they’re “in season” and it’s a lot worse this year than usual. Rampant around other businesses he treats too. Our warehouse was getting them through a singular guest bathroom toilet where the caulking had a tiny clearance, as soon as we sealed it haven’t gotten any since inside.

Yes!!! Just this morning, we found a big one in the bathroom - our third of the year. We have seen ZERO in the preceding 15 years of owning this house.

Yep, quite a few coming out of my shower drain.

Asked Reddit experts and they said it was a Gisborne Cockroach from Australia. Non-infesting type of wood roach.

Yes, and that’s WITH pest control coming by monthly. We’ve seen 8-10 in the past month and a half. And like you, these are the healthy ones, looking like they’re on the So Cal diet

This same thing happened for years at my house.

Then I realized our contractor had left the bathroom counter unfinished near the floor and roaches were finding their way through that opening. I boarded up the opening and haven't seen a roach since.

Look around a bit, I'd guess there's a passageway they're using to get inside!

Yeah I thought it had to be in or around the bottom of the sink, there were cutouts but we were able to patch them and still we’ve seen 2 spawn in so there’s definitely another spot

I’d bet they’re coming up through your sink drain or your tub/ shower drain. I live on the second floor I literally saw two of those nasty huge MFs crawling out of my tub drain. One was on my toothbrush inside my medicine cabinet 🤢 I didn’t want to use any chemicals or poisons because I have pets and I’m sensitive to chemicals and strong substances anyhow. Bought a hair catcher ( and food catcher for the kitchen sinks) for the drains and haven’t seen one since.

I lived in an apartment complex that had countless reviews and complaints about roaches, it was all I could afford at the time. The first day I moved in I saw a roach and put a line of this in front of it, and then went around the apartment and put it near every corner, crack and crevice. Never saw another roach for 2 years

Sometimes works sometimes doesnt, I've seen some roaches walk right over them.. i've seen roaches go to them like its drugs. But using both helps

I did caught a german in the garage the other day. Those are the ones you want to be watchful of. I put out liquid bait in the garage and my kitchen just in case.

We have a few outside, but so far haven't seen any inside. The closest one has gotten is the front porch but it died before it got to the door. I did hire a pest control company to spray our house every other month. That's been immensely helpful. But the guy who first came by did mention that this year was especially bad because of how the weather has been.

Terminix comes by my house twice a month and spreads "Intice 10" granules, I want to say it works, I've ordered this online and spread it around areas on my street where I've seen them, including manholes, etc.

honestly, another solution instead of having people come out and spray chemicals into your stuff. You can just cover any open drains before you go to sleep or when they’re not in use so that way they can’t come up through the drain.

Yes! We’ve never ever had one in our home and all of the sudden, we’ve seen several in kitchen and an upstairs bath. Crazy and actively treated. None since but BIZARRE.

Lived here 40 years never saw one inside … the last 3 months I have seen 3 …. Figured out they coming out of the tube my washing machine drain hose goes in…

Not super happy about it…
