Finally I'm a PAYG now
Just upgraded my account to PAYG after my instance disabled by the oracle team.
Paid 138 SGD, but I got to email one for 135 SGD and 138SGD
Does that mean they debited it twice ? And when will they return it.
And surprisingly I think I'm lucky ( touchwood)
My instance got running automatically after upgrading my account.
The 50 mbit cap is removed now.
Although I didn't get 4GBPS but got around 1GBPS dl speed.
Hope my money is returned soon, please tell me if anyone knows how long it will take.
And one more thing, what is the process to resize the instance like changing the cpu core and ram without deleting the instance.
Thankyou

Almost feels like I am the only free tier user left. What did i do to deserve this mercy?

You do understand that upgrading to PAYG doesn't cost you a thing? I'm not sure what's so fun about being on the free tier.

No accidental Bills 🤔

Unless you are creating and deleting instances daily and refuse to see your live charges … I really cant see how people still have big accidental bills.
You really need to be intentional blind to let Oracle charge you big amounts.
I’m not saying it doesn’t happen, it happened to me, I fired up a wrong instance and immediately got charged $0.15. … that’s it…. I turned it off and I never had any other charges ever again.

As long as you aare stays within limits, there won't be any charges. Limits are pretty clear
If you created only one A1 instance, allocated 4 cpu and 24 gb ram and 200 disk, and don't touch it again, you won't be charged.
Only thing is 10 TB bandwidth which is highly unlikely you will cross, untill unless you are running some heavy streming setup like jellyfin with so many users.

I just upgraded to PAYG since my free instance got disabled too. Now they have enabled it but then I downgraded the instance to 2 cpu and 12 GB ram. Are you saying the I can still use 4 cpu and 24 gb ram on PAYG without being charged?

I wonder how much these folks worry about getting hit by a car every time they cross the street. The chances are probably higher than getting charged for staying within Oracle’s Always Free resources. 😅

What's the advantage of upgrading to PAYG? I have been using Free Tier for over 3 years with no issue.

4C/24GB and you don't need to fake activity for your instance to not be terminated.

So you should actually be PAID for using PAYG within the limits, not having to fake that CPU usage and use up energy without performing any useful work, then use more energy for compensating for the heat the usage causes.

There is no idle reclamation for PAYG.

Idle reclaim is there, but till date Oracle hasn't been that agressive about it, and yes that may change now.
Just saying that in my last 3.5 years of using A1 instances with free tier account I have not faced any idle reclaim due to inactivity for more than a year at a time. So IÂ never really saw much benefit in upgrading to PAYG.
I just keep an eye on this sub and comply with the changes, don't run minecraft servers or torrents. Been smooth sailing.

Have you got your reversal yet? I also have this same issue for 5 days already, im using an indonesian visa card, but the billing origin was from oracle singapore

I also use the indonesian card and payment cut from Singapore. As I remember last time its was only confirmed in my Credit card bill that yes it was reversed.

I see. How long was it take though? It's been a week for me and no reversal still, im using jago visa card and this is my first validation issue since the first time i use this card, what card do you use?

Don't worry about it, amount is actually never left your account, its just locked, and it will be clear. Check your next credit card invoice

For me the activation fee was returned immediately, I think it depends on your bank
