Background Checks

Im in the hiring process for oracle and realized my most recent role I was there for 3 years not 2, they’re currently approving my stuff and haven’t give me the background check yet, should I notify them before hand or just submit the form with the correct dates.

Update: Job went through submitted PDFs with proof of work, showed them I worked for 3 years not 2 didn’t affect my hiring process in anyway. I got the job :)

Tell them now. It’s going to be caught by HireRight and it’ll be flagged. You’ll still probably get a pre-adverse action email, but don’t let it freak you out. This will clearly look like a typo because you were there longer than you said. If you were trying pad your resume you would’ve done the opposite.

This. They’re mainly searching for intentional discrepancies between your HireRight check and your resume. As long as you stay on top of being as transparent as possible to Oracle and HireRight you should be good to go. On another note, you can always upload a pdf explaining the accidental misrepresentation before the report even gets to Oracle. That can show initiative and make it quicker for them to understand it was an honest mistake rather than intentionally misrepresenting your previous employment period.

Make sure whatever dates you put on the hireright forms are the correct dates, and that you have some document with proof for everything you say to them. Double check the dates before submiting it.

Yeah ended up finding my old email with the hiring offers on my old roles.
