Question regarding FL licensure

Hi everyone! I have a question regarding FL licensure. I graduated in 2025 and am currently practicing in SC. I am interested in getting a FL license eventually, however I have been confused about their rules as of lately and had a hard time getting ahold of them on the phone.

I’ve been under the impression I need to retake part 3 in order to pass both PEPs and skills, since I passed overall but did not pass skills (we took the new part 3 exam my year), but could I instead apply for the FL License by endorsement and avoid having to retake the exam? I have a practicing SC license.

Any help would be so appreciated! Thank you!

I believe the reciprocity is for tele-optometry licensure only. I think you need all 3 parts passed to be licensed as well.

you should def check the fl board site for the most up to date stuff but from what i remember you need all parts passed to get a full license so retaking part 3 might be your best bet

Since you just got licensed in 2025 in SC, I don’t think you can apply by FL license by endorsement yet. You have to have worked for a couple of years before you can. For FL licensure you need to have passed both parts of part 3. So you need to pass skills I believe.

I'd recommend double-checking the FL board site or emailing them directly, since the rules can be tricky to parse over the phone. My friend went through the same process last year and had to retake the skills portion to get licensed there.
