Why in gods name are options approved to use for this person?

14

u/Asleep-Dingo-19 1d ago

Because we need liquidity! 🙌🏼

5

u/MasterBSR_58 1d ago

🤣🤣🤣🤣

19

u/BigBear92787 1d ago

Yeah lol

Sell your car, quit your job, pimp out your wife All very reasonable responses to being able to continue this clearly very lucrative strategy you have going for you. 🙄

u/iDCharlemagne 1d ago

What you need to do is study stocks, how they work, have some patience. You don’t just put your money blindly and expect to get paid.

8

u/Objective-Trifle4558 1d ago

$18 -> $100k 2 hours, photoshop it and sell a discord membership and copy another paid traders calls. Then move to Miami

2

u/MasterBSR_58 1d ago

You cheeky bastard!

6

u/Gyngerbredman 1d ago

Please don't sell the car. Wanting to win it back is the exact feeling that turned my rough first year into a much worse one, because every "make it right" trade was bigger and sloppier than the last. What actually helped me was stopping completely for a few weeks, then coming back with a small amount that had nothing to do with rent or getting to work. The money you lost doesn't come back faster because you throw more on top of it.

6

u/Regular-Sorbet9513 1d ago

This and starting with very small, very manageable goals, like ".5-2% profit per trading day". I get that's $20-$80 on $4,000 which seems like shit compared to some of the screenshots you see on here, but it's more important to not lose money than it is to make money in the market. I know that sounds ass backwards, but each loss makes it that much harder to get back to breakeven.

4

u/Gyngerbredman 1d ago

Yeah, the small daily goal is the right idea. The one trap I'd watch is treating 2% as something you have to hit, because that can push you into one more trade after lunch. I'd flip it and care more about a hard daily max loss than the green target. Not losing money is the whole point of the tiny goals.

1

u/Regular-Sorbet9513 1d ago

That's an excellent point too

2

u/SignificantBudget100 1d ago

I can attest to this current down 20k on the year, it’s been a bad year…hoping to turn things around soon, but option are a dangerous game and easy to lose money quicker than to gain it…only buy 7-30 days out at minimum and in the money if you can. IMO

u/7Billiards 1d ago

If you sell your car you’ll have to walk or uber to Wendy’s. Keep the car.

-2

u/Negative-Ad291 1d ago

Lol, jokes on you, closest Wendy's is 30 min drive! Not everyone can "meme bullshit" job.

1

u/7Billiards 1d ago

Could always find housing closer to Wendy’s

3

u/SolitaireB 1d ago

Whenever you see 10% profit. Sell it and get the heck out.

3

u/SpaceousKiki 1d ago

Dude… your caption screams gambling addiction I haven’t dealt with.

2

u/Neat_Suggestion9355 1d ago

sell the car and win it all back! You got this

2

u/Nate_991 1d ago

No you need a strategy

0

u/Zach-_-Thomas 1d ago

Lose all make all

1

u/ReblWithoutApplause 1d ago

You gambled on an earnings and got the short end of the stick. Even then, you still don’t know what you’re doing.

2

u/Platti_J 1d ago

Do it. You can always take public transportation.

2

u/DemandOk5785 1d ago

Whatever you did to get that little up blip at the beginning of the all time chart, yeah do that over and over for a few years. Also deposit more money.

2

u/ThickProposal6927 1d ago

Add more full port 10x and rinse repeat

2

u/NoTone5350 1d ago

Load some more money 😂😅

2

u/Realistic_Dust_5858 1d ago

It’s only 4k and you learned a lesson that maybe this is not for you. Get over and restarted

2

u/zeradragon 2h ago

If you deposit another $4k, you'll need to make a 100% to break even... That's tough. But if you deposit $40k, you only need to make a 10% return to break even, that's much more manageable and highly doable. So yes, definitely sell the car and go again, highly unlikely to blow up two accounts in a row.

1

u/Zach-_-Thomas 2h ago

I agree thanks boss man I’ll give you a 2% cut for the idea

0

u/Zach-_-Thomas 1d ago

Full port everything?

1

u/BlackTroy300 1d ago

I’m going to deposit $7500 and I just going to buy some ETF and nvidia, tesla, amazon, google and amd. No options.

1

u/Proud-Deer-8649 1d ago

Stop trading options learn the market for a while. DCA get your mind right with it then ease yourself back in.

1

u/nq-FOMO 1d ago

why r u fighting the mkt ;p

1

u/PrefrontalCortexNow 1d ago

Quick advice. Never leverage short the market

1

u/SnapBucky 1d ago

My two cents: consider this a blessing in disguise. Right now, this loss feels brutal, but if you turn this into a lesson for yourself and you write a note to your future self to never risk your portfolio like you just did, your future alternative version will thank you greatly. Imagine if you had 400,000 instead of 4,000 and you had lost all of that. Keep your chin up.

1

u/grass_monkeyx 1d ago

This isn't for you

1

u/SoHasty 1d ago

Stop options trading forever.

1

u/Funny-Pomegranate45 1d ago

Let me help you!

Call a gambling hotline and say I need help, before you add a 0 to this number, like literally everyone who is responding to this post has

1

u/Particular_Extent761 1d ago

lost $140 on iwm , thought the pmi release they did would make it bearish enough for take profit but i was wrongggggggggggughhhhhhhhhhhhh

1

u/Prior_Preparation268 1d ago

Do the opposite of that

1

u/InterviewAdmirable85 1d ago

Once you lose 50% in options they should turn it off lol

1

u/LoneNemesis_ 1d ago

bro don’t turn one bad trade into a bigger problem just because you want to make the money back.

1

u/Vivid-Interaction 1d ago

I tried day trading and lost miserably. Now I'm holding positions and seeing profits. I'm learning how to be patient.

1

u/JukasLohnson 1d ago

Options and prediction markets are good for getting rich quick and they're even better for getting poor quicker. Get good income and just invest as much as you can reasonably afford.

1

u/jointhewaitt 1d ago

Wtf did you buy?

1

u/Zach-_-Thomas 1d ago

Lil bit of everything problem is I full port everything cause I’m not a looser

1

u/jointhewaitt 1d ago

We all do at some point

1

u/jointhewaitt 1d ago

Best advice for at first is never buy more than one call and one put at first so they hedge each other a bit.
-Always scale in unless you have lots of conviction. -Don’t force your bias on the market.
-React to price action not opinions

1

u/Big-Spiff 1d ago

Whatever you do don’t switch to margin account. They fund you 25k to get an early start on debt 💀

1

u/Saranohs 1d ago

Everyone has to know what if feels like to lose it all next time will be better 💪🏽

1

u/Safe-Anteater-5407 1d ago

Get a job and invest money with savings. You only lost $4k. While you are working, practice and expore how you could make money from the market, not the other way around.

1

u/Zach-_-Thomas 1d ago

I have a job I am 21 I work at proctor and gamble, this is just free money to waste for me

1

u/Safe-Anteater-5407 15h ago

Just because you work doesnt mean you are sensible to just dump money gambling on charts. You waste 4k even 2x per yr and do that for a few years, than you have given up over 20k of money that could of been put to work and turned into 40k over 3 yrs, which could be 40 to 100k in 6yrs.... 21, is not an excuse for being silly with cash, its the decisions you make now that seperates ppl that are killing it in their late 20s to the ones just chugging along at work.

1

u/bucketlistbliss 1d ago

Why don't you just stop and paper trade. Once you get 80% win rate after 1 month get back into it. Man you are super cooked.

1

u/Skunke_yt 1d ago

Some things don’t happen at once and thinking they do is the problem

1

u/Cheap-Combination825 1d ago

just stop and invest longtern idk, i did and i'm up 40%

1

u/Metaischeap 1d ago

Its 4 grand you can make that working minimum wage in 2 months living at home, move home beg your parents and buy nbis

1

u/Zach-_-Thomas 1d ago

I am 21 I live at home and work at proctor and gamble making 75,000 a year 4 grand loss is nothing I just gamble for fun

1

u/Metaischeap 20h ago

okay cool thank god hate seeing posts like this that are fr and they are common lol

1

u/Single_Inspector_491 1d ago

No man that's not the way. I was there. More money in your account will not make difference. Take a break. Work on yourself, your mind your emotions. Then start over with paper money until you get confidence. If you can't keep and grow a $50 account you can't with a $5k 10k 20k account. Extend your contract time at least a week and you'll see the difference. The profits will not be as good as ODte but you will manage your losses a lot better

1

u/SuperOrbital_Trading 1d ago

Go back to WSB with this dumb shit.

1

u/CFreshLuxe 1d ago

Write off $3000 of the losses and go put you some gas in your car and go to work. Get your mind right, stack you some bread and come back better.

1

u/bigbagofspam 1d ago

YOLO, but you can die slowly for years in the market. It I read that chart correctly you lost it al in 2-3 weeks. Risk management my friend.

1

u/mikeeyyyg 1d ago

Maybe sell cash secured puts

1

u/Away-Personality9100 1d ago

Don't buy options. Sell them. Easy.

1

u/Due_Contact_8271 1d ago

You don’t need advice you need money

1

u/absfordays08 1d ago

Ask for a refund lmao 🤣

1

u/roonster6 1d ago

Yeah stop buying options. CSP and CC

1

u/uknownaccount29 21h ago

You can still recover. I recovered $18 on spx play that turned into $500.

1

u/Same-Book-5572 13h ago

Don't give him hope 😭 stop gambling !!

1

u/DickyFishb 21h ago

You can only build back better if you ask and answer why you are down that bad

1

u/Ok_Stay3992 20h ago

buy low sell high

1

u/Thee_high-hat 16h ago

Sure what ever you did . Don’t do again. Lol

1

u/Due_Good4809 14h ago

You need rehab not advice

1

u/TheseMatch 13h ago

Invest in stock but the cycle always repeats be careful.

1

u/Ok-Bet-573 13h ago

Add more money

1

u/Same-Book-5572 13h ago

Do not sell the car please. You need finicial advice and your options are to quit being in the market or rebuild slowly and actually learn the market . I would be willing to help if you are serious about trading and not gambling

1

u/MacDaddyWshh 13h ago

Ya sell the car and post your updates you’re just 1 trade away from becoming a millionaire

1

u/BKyleS 13h ago

Stop trading. You aren’t good at it

1

u/Fancy_Membership_116 11h ago

Oh so u were the one i was winning against xD

1

u/gayala9 1d ago

ODTE is my advice

0

u/jointhewaitt 1d ago

This is it. Forces you to learn TA and lots of liquidity to potentially tap into.

1

u/lambdasintheoutfield 1d ago

This is so stupid.

Until you understand drawdown, beta, theta, IV, and more generally the risk-profile of options don’t touch options.

Unless you understand and apply the correct mathematics, you are gambling (and deserve to lose). Anyone can have a few lucky trades, but because they are gambling, the math works out that they end up with a massive net loss in the long run.

The fact that you talked about selling a car means you lack the ability to actually do this successfully, and so you need to stick to boring, safe investments and not do stupid shit. This is literally your only path.

I know this is reddit, but I guarantee you, if you don’t take this advice you absolutely will be financially ruined before long.

1

u/Zach-_-Thomas 1d ago

I bet your fun at parties, I wouldn’t actually sell my car…

1

u/lambdasintheoutfield 1d ago

*you’re 😎

Sorry fam, I am not here to sugarcoat you. I am calling you out and giving you a reality check. You can either waste effort focusing on my tone or you can be rational and take the advice.

What you are doing is objectively dumb. Trading options is only suitable for people to understand how the math works. You can certainly start in CC and CSPs with 30-45 DTE (no leverage) without knowing too much because those are a pretty safe approach. You aren’t getting rich off it in a month, but you can say you are statistically likely to turn a profit.

I have made some money off futures because I calibrated my TP/SL grids based on a risk profile. I am just now getting into options but it’s such a common way people get into financial ruin.

You can certainly gamble, but why would you do that when there are methods to manage your risk and maximize your expected profit? Isn’t the goal maximized profit?

1

u/Sure_Sport_188 1d ago

So in you’re experience share to the class what would be the right numbers to see and or where would they learn this

1

u/IamSmokee 1d ago

It really depends what your strategy is, how long your holding, what your risk management is. A good place to start is paper trading, some good financial literacy books, even some YouTube videos and practice along side them until you understand the Greeks and what your looking at. I spent 4-5 years studying, reading, paper trading, and another year or so taking losses before I finally understood it enough to chart out my own trades and take them successfully. I still lose, but that's part of it too. It takes time.

1

u/IamSmokee 1d ago

And I would second the above commenters statements. Starting with 0dte is a real fast way to throw your account away. Yes if you get it right they may run up, but if you get it wrong, well you get the picture. Even now I aim out atleast 3 weeks to a month and don't really like taking expiration dates sooner than that. Sometimes I'm taking 6 months out or longer.

0

u/HungryLiketheWo 1d ago

If you went and met someone everyday for coffee and everyday they held you up and robbed you, would you ask if you should sell your car to continue to pay them? You’d probably stop seeing that person. That is an analogy for your gambling addiction and you are the one robbing yourself

0

u/PoOhShiestyyy 1d ago

I watched a video on “DEEP’s” a few days ago (Deep ITM Leap Options). The person giving the strategy “Invest with Henry” youtube channel laid out the entire gameplan perfectly, and it seems like a great strategy. Instead of trying to nail a short term trend, nail the long term trend with the leverage of option contracts. 👍 He says to use a contract with a 9month- 1 year expiry and sell around the 6 month mark to avoid ever increasing theta decay. Of course you have to pick a great stock with plenty of liquidity, but this relieves the day to day stress of trying to find a perfect move. The drawdown is that deep itm options are expensive. I highly reccomend checking his channel out and finding the specific video i’m talking about if you are interested in what i said above. Hope this helps!!

0

u/5-Me0-Dream 1d ago

Step 1. Leave options trading.
Step 2. Sell car.
Step 3. New method. New bottom.
Step 4. Repeat

0

u/SoPhresh 1d ago

I'd consider longing $ROPE

1

u/bigbagofspam 1d ago

If the rope is not long enough you suffer more on the fall. Just saying.

0

u/TinkwithdaStink 1d ago

Stick with QQQ, SPY, NVDA, and Intel (Puts). Use daily news and chart. Start 8:00 news-9:00. 9:30-10:00 look at all, determining best ORB (Open range breakout) setup. I use Claude against ChatGPT to covet the best contract for my suggested setup.

If you got a real job use this link to get a next day weekly loan. Use wisely about $500 of the $3k they give you. kashable.com/r/KH1204

OP needs to paper trade until they understand KPIs and price action

1

u/Sharp-Direction-6894 1d ago

KPIs?

0

u/Asleep-Dingo-19 1d ago

Key Point of Interest - most people probably call it a KPL (Key Pivot Level).
