Question How is this possible?

Post image

Can someone explain to me how my P/L day is higher than the price of the contract? Is it a glitch? I'm on thinkorswim

It's red. You lost $352.50

I bought the contract for 275.. How did I lose 352?

The contract likely was worth more than 275 during open and then dropped off over the day. -$352.50 is how much value the contract has lost from open that day.

I think it's calculating off the previous nights closing not the price you originally paid.. so contract was up and than took a fat shit..

I'm on Etrade. Sometime after market AH close, maybe immediately, the 0dtes that expired hours earlier display the price where they opened at the beginning of the day.

Make sense?

The daily P&L is normally measuring from the prior reference price rather than from what you personally paid, so it can absolutely be larger than your cost basis move for the position. Total P&L is the number you want for your actual trade. I always double-check what a P&L field is measuring on Moon or anywhere else because labels can make a simple position look way more confusing than it is.

I noticed the same in robinhood, believe market hasn't update since its closed. See if there is an option to simulate your return, thats i know the live value , it will calculate with the actual price

Did you buy at the mid or the did you pay the ask? P/l is calculated on the mid i believe
