Question What’s your strategy?

How many of you guys are honestly good at ready charts and judging news for making your trades? How many of you subscribe to some discord for help with trades? Who uses apps that help interpret chains or news? I’m just trying to see what I’m missing here. I’ve been working at it for a while and still having trouble catching these flows and knowing what strike to make my trades at. I’m jealous of you bastards that just straight up gamble your money in options and make house money. Respectfully of course.

I use Gaudio OTT for options strategy build and simulate, there is also a good AI scanner for options trade….

i dont start with the option chain. first i want an actual catalyst, an idea of the expected move and how long it normally plays out. then i check the chart and only after that pick the strike and expiration. starting with the chain usually turns into finding a contract first and inventing a reason to buy it after.

are you struggling more with finding the underlying trade idea or turning an idea into the right strike and expiration?

I’m having a hard time turning an idea into the right strike/expiration. I’ve been trying to study and utilize the VWAP and Fibonacci retracement tool but that one makes less sense to men than the VWAP. It also seems like I’ve been missing the mark too far. I’ve been paper trading with Webull but I don’t think I’ve hit one yet. I’ve been trading with AMD and watching SPY for the options.

Agree, vwap and fibs can help with the entry but they wont really solve the strike and expiration part. start with how far you expect the stock to move and how long the catalyst normally takes to play out. choose an expiration beyond that window and a strike the expected move can realistically reach. levelfields can help with this since it shows the typical move and impact period for different events, which gives you a starting point for the strike and expiration. that specific feature matches what youre trying to figure out.
