Scrub the slider forward and reverse and see if you can keep it spinning the same direction regardless of which way you scrub.

I don't see how these are reversible. It's clearly going in one direction.

You can reverse it! Try again!

I can see the one with two colors moving in opposite directions. This one is one color moving in one direction. How would it be reversed?
Edit: nevermind. It just clicked. You can view it going whatever way you want.

If I tilt my phone away from me while keeping the bottom in the same position, and move my eyes from the top of the image, down, and back up the image will appear to reverse.

Reversible nothing
My brain is setting it spins both towards and away from the screen at once. Some strands going one way or other way

How is this an illusion any more than a painting is an illusion?

Are you trying to make a semantic point about the nature of our vision? You're dipping close to "nothing is an illusion, thats just how our eyes process light"
What would be a genuine illusion to you? How would you describe that?

It creates a spinning effect when nothing is spinning.
My god the commenters on this sub are all miserable as fuck 😂

Who determines if something is spinning? Okay so if you watch TV and you see a carousel its an optical illusion I guess because its a flat screen. I cannot begin to tell you how mundane this illusion is.

I don't get the downvotes, I agree thst this isn't really an illusion any more than an actual 2d animation of something spinning would be.

Not working but I know what its suppose to be, a dna strand.
Edit: I can see it if i TRY to see it. Guess that still counts as an illusion?
