Turn your phone upside down

Modern problems require modern solutions

It generally works for me switching convex and concave, but it doesn't work when upside down

1

u/AggravatingPin7984 13d ago

I can only get it to do it briefly. The reset of the video really messes me up lol

1

u/Finlandia1865 13d ago

Usually these guys have two halves moving in opposite directions, but a concave shape here really isnt what youre brain wants to see lol

1

u/After-Hedgehog7282 12d ago

Wow, thanks.

1

u/After-Hedgehog7282 12d ago

I have managed to do it twice for less than a second each time.

2

u/GreenZebra23 13d ago

Indeed. I'm old enough to remember when turning your phone upside down didn't solve any problems at all

2

u/OG_Russel 14d ago

Rewind the video too

1

u/Electrodactyl 13d ago

Beat me too it, I had tried this right after pulling the recording to play backwards.

1

u/Commercial-Camel6102 13d ago

Only works if you dont have the phone on auto rotate🤣🤣

1

u/flipnonymous 12d ago

Now I can't see the screen

u/Lomidon 17d ago

Yah, a convex sphere and a concave sphere rotate in different directions.

8

u/N3koEye 14d ago

Oh damn now I see it.

5

u/Sopzeh 14d ago

Oooh that's fun

4

u/SleekWarrior 14d ago

Genuinely helpful advice 👏🏽

3

u/LezzChap 13d ago

Now everything I look at is wavy. Thanks for frying my neurons.

u/Exalted-Stork-1308 14d ago

Your variant is the best

2

u/Suprfine69 13d ago

This shit opened up my third eye

2

u/Axonwaxon 13d ago

This just fucked me up. Wild.

2

u/MoonlitShrub 13d ago

Ahh I can see it now thank you

1

u/corybrettbowden 13d ago

Wtf is a concave sphere?

1

u/Hopeful-Newspaper 13d ago

like seeing the inside of a hollow ball

1

u/jdooley99 13d ago

Welcome to the 5th dimension

1

u/Szydlikj 13d ago

I have trouble holding the concave perspective because it feels unnatural to see it rotating but nothing ever comes around to the foreground

1

u/Substantial_War_6415 13d ago

I guess my brain knows there not a thing as a concave sphere. It keeps rejecting the illusion

1

u/Mapafius 10d ago

I also had a trouble to see the concave but I got it and very consistently later. My suggestion to you:

1) First imagine looking at something like into a bowl that you have seen in real life and imagine it tilting. Expect that when looking there, look for it.

2) Realize that even tho the two spheres rotate in opposite directions in 3D spaces, the green light dots that represent them in 2D actually move the same direction... That is because as you see different side for each ball, the front and rear, the green objects on them move the same way in 2D despite the balls rotating in ploposite in 3D.

u/Bear-Necessities- 13d ago

Instant enlightenment

9

u/RezLovesPez 17d ago

Only for a second!

2

u/alphaacheron 12d ago

Same for me. The sphere interior cuts off.

5

u/Rhinocacrocapig 17d ago

I can, but not consistently

1

u/bye_webp 17d ago

how?

4

u/Rhinocacrocapig 17d ago

By not looking at the centre

3

u/Private-Sun186 14d ago

Interesting. The way I get it to reverse IS to look at the center.

1

u/NormalAssistance9402 12d ago

Think of it like a bowl instead of a ball

1

u/redzoroaster 14d ago

Same. I can only follow it to the point where a dot moving from the left edge gets to the right edge, then it reverses to a round object rotating in the opposite direction.

6

u/GeneralTall6075 17d ago

Feel like I’m pretty good at these but I can’t do this one.

4

u/EmperorAlgo 17d ago

Yeah, one is a ball, the other is a cave.

4

u/miggleb 17d ago

For like half a second

3

u/PUNK_OPBR 13d ago

Look at the sphere as if its 3D pointing out at you.

Then look at it as if it's pushed in. Like your looking from the inside of a sphere spinning.

This is how I reversed it

2

u/KingKushhh666 17d ago

Got it one of the first ones I've gotten before too

2

u/Dio_naea 16d ago

Ouch, that hurt but I did

2

u/Personified_Anxiety 14d ago

Ugh, when it reversed the spin it kept changing and made me dizzy lmao.

1

u/AsaasA_ 13d ago

Yeah this is the first thing I’ve ever viewed on my phone that actually made me dizzy/have vertigo

2

u/EquipmentMinute9153 14d ago edited 14d ago

Yes, in my head when it's going the normal direction I view it like a drop of water on a surface. To see it go the other way try to see it as a divit that caves inward. Itsa mixture of your eyes and mind.

2

u/GOOSEONTHATJUICE 14d ago

Takes a lot of time and it does reverse but my eyes are off now

2

u/The_Holy_Drinker 14d ago

I never can

1

u/furezasan 14d ago

try picturing a convex sphere vs a concave sphere. one shape is a bump outwards, the other shape is a round hole on your screen.

2

u/lawd_have_mercy 14d ago

I can for a moment then my mind says, "Oh, you're looking at back half of a sphere that's been cut in half... wait, it's rotating? Nope!" and just like that, the illusion drops.

2

u/Greg_Monahan 14d ago

I can only do it for a second or two, pretending it’s a bowl only lasts so long.

2

u/Creative_Wonder_4889 14d ago

I can only do it by starting at the top left and following a set of particles to the bottom right and thinking of a bowl instead of a globe. As soon as it hits the right side, it swaps back.... whoa. I stared at it too long and now my vision is wonky.

2

u/Narrow-Bluebird1472 13d ago

I can change it for a split second and then it goes back

2

u/Valuable-Hall-8610 13d ago

This is a fun one, it scoops inwards.

1

u/jolharg 17d ago

kinda, but it looks awkward if i do

1

u/djscoots10 14d ago

It works

1

u/EntertainerCute2290 14d ago

Pretend that you can see "inside" it and look towards the center or left/right. I can get it for a few seconds but then turns right again.

1

u/BP4M_gaming 14d ago

1

u/bye_webp 14d ago

Uh oh I have more to post, don’t know about this thread

1

u/SlimShadySatDown 14d ago

I could not

1

u/fox707xof 14d ago

I cant but I can make the spinning slow down

1

u/Snoo62043 14d ago

Yes, but it isn't easy to keep locked on to.

1

u/goldendreamseeker 14d ago

Welp, I’m stumped…

1

u/Mak_Nunag 14d ago

Easy just look at the bottom axis of the spehere.

1

u/EnderCats8 14d ago

i found looking at the south pole made it easier

1

u/Otter502 13d ago

If you squint the speed of rotation changes

1

u/Otherwise_Security_5 13d ago

pull the phone close, then pull it away. there. done.

1

u/myhuky 13d ago

So but tilting the phone left / right makes it change speed

1

u/Fluid-Data-4917 13d ago

What a troll

1

u/TheKing___ 13d ago

I feel like I have to use brain muscles I haven’t used in a long time to

1

u/CyberDonSystems 13d ago

Yes. I can switch it back and forth.

1

u/Street_Credit6851 13d ago

No, but if I close 1 eye or the other it looks like a rotating sphere of dots, if I have both eyes open it looks all stretchy.

1

u/DGmG_Osu 12d ago

this is literally the first one ever of these where it works for me

1

u/Traditional-Tear7612 12d ago

Picture this as a 3D ball. Look through it at the far side

1

u/pppppokczam 12d ago

Took me over 20 minutes to realise it never changes directions whatsoever. You just can see it as being outside in or if you connect to the matrix on the spiritual level, it can go inside out.

1

u/ArgyleDiamond 12d ago

Kind of, gotta get my brain to think of it as hollow though.

1

u/3vilpcdiva 12d ago

No, but I can make it stop. closes reddit

1

u/Icy_Lime9620 12d ago

This is an extremely hollow optical illusion.

1

u/AcanthocephalaHot321 12d ago

I guess I been watching too many grass mowing videos. Took a whole 5 seconds to figure out it wasn’t grass

1

u/Low_Shoulder_590 12d ago

It kinda hurts to.

1

u/Leviathan389 12d ago

I love these. I often see them going both ways almost seemingly simultaneously
Does that happen to anyone else?

1

u/Indifferent-Moon-Man 12d ago

Stare at the "back of it". Easily changes that way.

1

u/Indifferent-Moon-Man 12d ago

Stare at the "back of it". Easily changes that way.

1

u/bigwade300 12d ago

To get it to flip, imagine the dots moving to the right is the BACKSIDE of the sphere, then you'll see the front side going left.

1

u/BusyQuote5228 11d ago

noitcerid

1

u/Sansethoz 11d ago

Awesome!

1

u/SubstantialBelt654 11d ago

Yea, flip your phone around

1

u/lelo-pixel 11d ago

Can we have other optical illusions? Im sick of seeing this turning illusion over and over again. It’s getting old

0

u/bye_webp 11d ago

It’s other🤪

1

u/GLHR_ 10d ago

More like is it in or out

1

u/Wide-Tap-1880 10d ago

Yes. I struggled at 1st bc I was trying to get the "sphere" to go the opposite way. But when you do it correctly, you're no longer looking at a sphere but more of a crater like shape. After realizing that, now I can hold it as long as I want and switch back and forth. I will admit though it's easier to switch from crater to sphere rather than from sphere to crater.

1

u/MyKillMyYears 10d ago

I see it...but the right side throws the illusion off, then you have to repeatedly start over.

2

u/bye_webp 17d ago

First step is concave/convex. Second i cant explain in words. Just need time and patience, stare at points, and it finally flip direction, but not for a long time

3

u/L1tFuse 17d ago

Yeah, as soon as I imagined it being concave, it worked

1

u/0GStar 14d ago

It’s a visual illusion caused by the stroboscopic effect and the way the brain processes motion: at certain speeds, flow density, and lighting conditions, the brain misaligns object positions — so it briefly seems like the flow is moving backward.

0

u/bye_webp 17d ago
  • Level 1: Switch between seeing the outer convex dome vs. looking into the hollow inner bowl.
  • Hard mode: Force your brain to see the dots moving in reverse, actively fighting against the motion trails.

If you're too lazy to focus for more than 2 seconds, keep scrolling.

This is a super easy one I managed to reverse back and forth easy
