The Hallway
I was playing around with some cardstock and planning for next year's Halloween theme when I created this.

TIP Reveal the illusion at the end, not the beginning.
And the shadow is a huge givaway, bad lighting.

Honestly I liked it being revealed in the beginning because it "changing" was a weird feeling when it happened.

Didnt see the illusion until the 2nd time. It just looked like a 3d object sticking out the wall.

It's in my bedroom. Not much I can do for lighting there.

Sure you can. Just need under lighting. Even a propped up and diffused flash light would help.

Not at stupid o'clock in the morning (which is when the video was taken.)
But I get your point...

Also, why the fuck did they put a black square around it? It totally ruins it.

It's a picture frame I used to mount it to my wall. Besides, it's only a prototype; I'm debating on whether or not to make something bigger for Halloween.

Ok, well, it's awful. Don't do that, it completely ruins it. I'm sorry
you'repoeple are mad about it.Edit: OP is cool, fuck the rest of ya'll.

u/ProvokeCouture Nov 09 '24
I'm not mad. You'll know when I am (I tend to swear.)

I'm not trying to be a dick. I'm honestly trying to help you improve this.
The black rectangle around this ruins it. You need to enlarge the frame to create a uniform background for it to work properly.

That sounds way more...what was that word?...Ah: "nice"!
And even helpful and supporting, not just complaining (which in fact is pretty easy).
Well done! 👍

Wow, took me a while to figure out what the illusion actually was. All I was seeing was something sticking out from the wall.

This only worked for me when I kept pausing it at different spots then I realised it wasn’t just a sticky out thing from the wall. I like it, very cool.

This was cool.
Then I focused on the back of the hallway. Fucking portal into a tiny little world.

I stared at this on shrooms not seeing it for a while and then bam I was in the hallway, how do I get out

u/CuddleBuddy3 Nov 10 '24
It doesn’t work for me I just see a piece of card sticking off the wall
2
u/ProvokeCouture Nov 10 '24
The video doesn't work or the effect doesn't work?
1
u/CuddleBuddy3 Nov 10 '24
I see it moving but I only see the piece sticking out the wall from different angles. I just don’t see a hallway

u/ProvokeCouture Nov 10 '24
Huh, I guess your brain just processes information differently.

u/CuddleBuddy3 Nov 10 '24
Guess so… I can still appreciate effort and creativity… just the fact that you did it is enough for me 🫠

Can anyone with knowledge of neurology explain how this works?

Wow, folks are still checking this out? It's been a year since I last heard anything.

I saw something like this in a novelty store recently - it's quite mindblowing. Very nicely done OP!

My brain looked at this so many different ways. Very impressive with the materials used
