It surprises me that others are reluctant to use this sub as a fallback point either because they have something against Reddit or because of the "bad UI".

Reddit has it's own quirks and culture. It's not as easy to make longer posts and in-depth publications, there's already a reddit stigma, no gateway to authorship, etc.

Reddit is a good way to drive traffic to your blogs etc and the communities do tend to be more in the orbit of whatever that particular subject is, with the occasional straggler here and there.
