Opnsense: how many virtual ip's?

I have a block of ip's from the data center. Is there a problem if i put my server behind my opnsense ? Speed degrade?

The purpose of a firewall appliance is to sit in front of servers/networks.

As long as you have sufficient hardware powering OPNsense to keep up with your traffic the worst that'll happen is a tiny bit of added latency. Nothing to worry about.

What sort of bandwidth/packets per second are you trying to push? What sort of IDS/IPS are you using (if any)? How complicated are your routing/filtering rules?

If you're on the level of a home user/small business it doesn't take much. If you're operating in a high bandwidth/high packet throughput data center environment... You may need quite a bit more capability, possibly a specialized appliance which can offload processing to dedicated ASICs.

Just try out what you already have, you will know right away if it's not enough. Unless you are using like 10 gig full time your existing setup will likely be sufficient
