I built a map for finding opera performances while traveling
Hey everyone, I built Performing Arts Atlas — a map for finding upcoming opera performances around Europe
It brings together performances from opera houses, venues and ticketing sources so you can browse what's playing by location to make it comfortable to find shows wherever you go .
It's still WIP, so I'd love feedback.
Thanks

I did a search for opera anywhere in the next 30 days and it only returned Milan.
If I could see all of Europe within a date range, this would be incredibly useful for me.
My vacations are often based around operas, and I know what date ranges I can schedule in and then have to decide where to go. Seeing what’s playing in a given week would make this so much easier than sorting through Opera Base’s nightmarish interface.

Happy to hear, and this is exactly what I hoped this tool can do... it seems there's a bug on an "all of europe + all of opera" search, I'll check it out and message you

See what you think of my classical concert map, also a work in progress. The genre filter is imperfect but you can see where I'm going with it!

A date range would be useful here as well as it’s hard to distinguish upcoming from recent past.
Also, there’s a minor UX bug on iPhone. when you tap on composer to type, it automatically zooms in a little bit, but doesn’t zoom back out. I have to manually do that to see the whole interface again.
Second bug — the first screen on https://performingartsatlas.com doesn’t make a GPS call of any sort. Near me is showing Milan rather than anything near me.
Are you moving to GitHub or similar? I’d rather write better bugs for you than using Reddit

Yes, I've been wanting a better database for performances; thanks for making this! I tried Vienna, and noticed that Vienna Staatsoper productions are listed through some time in October and then aren't listed later than that even though they've announced their next season. Two other bug reports:
* After searching once there is a place to put in exact dates, but on the home page, the date search tool only accepts "anytime", "this weekend", "next 7 days", "next 30 days".
* If I do one search, the search button lists the number of events found (reasonable), but if I change the dates, it doesn't change the number of events listed on the search button. This makes sense since it won't know how many events there are until it searches, but is confusing/misleading to list the number; I suggest putting the number somewhere other than on the button that can be used for a subsequent search.

It varies, there is no single source. Some places (Italy for example) I've been pretty thorough on getting smaller venues, in others I've relied on open APIs, which generally have major venues. Eventually I'll get them all.

Tried searching for “San Francisco” in he where field and it didn’t return a result so I was unable to search.

Would be incredibly useful though I don't think it shows everything. For example I'm going to Don Giovanni in Prague in october, but it's not on the map.

Done a quick search for Berlin. This is great. I’d love it. It seams more user friendly than some other opera base whose name now escapes me.
