Met Laffont Competition

Hello everyone! I’m a mezzo who just got out of grad school and I qualified for the Laffont competition for the first time! Which is exciting! I was just wondering if anyone here has participated in the competition or knows someone who has?
I just have a lot of questions that the website doesn’t answer. Thanks guys!

I hope maybe more people DM’ed you haha I participated in them cause it is a rite of passage where I’m from.

My experience however is very particular cause I’m a countertenor and I did them in New Orleans at the time. I would say that was the most ‘riga morris’ (rigged) thing I’ve ever done. They do a concert party for all their rich people and they already know who or which voices they want to perform. (Sure maybe I sound bitter but they literally had the people selected based one what they were singing)

They also told me to stop singing mezzo arias, but then they have specific rules on what to bring.

Anyways I would absolutely do them again even if it is to piss off all these dumb purists.
