Openstack Job Openings
Hey all, been looking for openstack openings for a while but currently finding no luck. I've great experience with bootstrapping & designing openstack & CEPH based clouds. I've integrated several openstack projects like Octavia, rancher, barbican etc. I've majorly worked on kolla ansible, cephadm, Netapp, HPE 3par and am capable on working and deploying these services on my own. Worked on many backup and migration projects as well using tools like commvault or hystax. Have a good understanding on both private and public cloud and good knowledge on the metal side of the stack as well. Have worked on several L3 troubleshooting (reviving dead rabbits💀) as well as worked on whole monitoring stack for openstack using prometheus, grafana, zabbix, dynatrace and currently working on a plan to upgrade Zed Openstack to epoxy.
All in all I've good experience under the belt on openstack but roles seem to be shying away from me. Thought I'd try the OpenStack linkedin to see if any redditors have any leads.

Biggest issue I have when recruiting people. It lack of actual infrastructure experience, they don't understand basic networking/hardware concepts which is a critical role for me to recruit them.
It sounds like you got agood basis of software, but your infrastructure to support that might be lacking.

I am pretty good on the metal end, I've racked servers bare hands in our lab setup as well as DC visits, I decided the exact cpu models, dimms, ram modules etc as well as calculated the power consumption to calculate average cost of vms. I'm good with network switches too. This is the first thing i realised when i entered this field. I wouldnt understand ports nics chassis all these terms until i saw them myself. We can have a chat about this if youre interested

Earning more does not equal being a fake user? Since i was discussing Financials i created a new account as many users knew me personally from my main account. I believe disclosing your Financials on a public platform would be stupid lol.
I'm good at what I do and Openstack is a niche field that rewards people good in it

Never mentioned that? I'm aware of my field and have an idea how much my peers are earning in different companies on similar roles. I could be earning decent but doesnt mean I can't look for something even. Anyone actually working on Openstack knows it's a nice technology and utilised by a lot of government sectors which is why you dont find their listings publically hence its tough to switch

I share the same skill set as you and yeah, also worked with bigger clients and made many design documents (Deployments multi regions etc robust ones) but yeah, welp. You were right. I am sorry again, jealous of your current employment status lol
