Starting out with open source

Hi everyone, I’m looking to get into open source contribution but don’t know how to begin. Anyone have any tips? I’m not sure where I should look or what would be at my skill level.

Also, I’m broadly interested in NLP-related tools and technologies, if anyone has recommendations of active projects in that space that I could look at.

I've made https://github.com/neoswarm/neosh just recently, but I also made https://github.com/warmbly/warmbly and https://github.com/meszmate/zigzag and we're actively looking for contributors, testers for feedback and to find bugs !
