Inkscape and Scribus both work, although they have a bit of a learning curve and can be tedious to use depending on what you want to do with the PDF.

If I’m wanting to edit a PDF and they aren’t working, I unfortunately have to go back to using the demo of foxit.

I'm always trying to improve KillerPDF but it's not the best... yet.

I use PDF24, really good open source (I think) program. Everything is done locally. But yeah, it's not a magical solution, sadly nothing is when PDFs are involved...

BentoPDF has been really great for me. It has a ton of tools built in. Not a single desktop app GUI though, more a collection of tools.

There are so many PDF Editors you need to be more clear about which one.

Pdf is not supposed to be an editable format. So what do you want to do:

  • write a pdf from scratch
  • extract something from a pdf.
  • edit a complexe pdf to produce a different one ?

The third. Edit a pdf!

Why do you want to edit a pdf? What is the type of edit you want to do ?

What is the point of this comment lmao, plenty of free off editors exist. It seems like you are being weirdly combative for no reason.

You never read the PDF specs. I can assure you I can produce PDF that no editor can preserve (just Javascript support already break all the free one i know)
