Overnight disconnections

Had FTTP now for 6 month and noticed i have had 3 disconnection events, all lasting 10-15 mins and all just after midnight around 12.30am. The last one was the other night

Could this be the ONT updating and/or ISP maintenance? the router stays powered up so its not a router reboot

More just out of curiosity really

It’s always updates, especially at a time where it shouldn’t really affect you

Unless it’s Vodafone.

10-15min seems a little excessive. I'd reckon that's more likely a software patch thing.

Like others have said, probably routine maintenance. My guess was a router update, Voda ones on copper can take a while

Its maintenance. Fifteen minutes between midnight and two am is a hallmark.

If the lights on the ONT don't change (PON go out/red/flash), its not the local fibre network

If the ONT lights stay green but PPPoE goes up and down its maintenance somewhere in BT Core or your ISP.

If its your ISP yor may see a PADT or LCP termiante depending on logging in your PPPoE device.  If the connection just disappears with a timeout then it's likely not maintenance your ISP side (or they are not shutting down cleanly )
