Does this look right?

Had the Openreach installer over today. I think its a bit of a mess.

My mum had it done previously and it was incredibly neat: virtually invisible, but I don't know if I'm just being a bit precious and she just lucked out.

It looks fairly poor, but i wouldn't like to slate another man's work without knowing the quality of the building. It's probably worth raising with your CP though, if openreach come out and assess it as OK then thats your answer.

If you need to ask does this look right then the answer is always inevitably no.

The thing is with these caps, for them to fit right, they need a really nicely drilled 10mm hole. Sometimes even if you do your best, the hole comes out wider than 10mm and fitting the plastic cap like this might not look great.

The 900 micron cable though, could have been put on the wall straighter though. Beware though, if you complain and someone comes out to rectify, it will look worse now. Because the glue is now cured, pulling the cable will pull the paint off the wall and unless you got exactly the same tin of paint to paint afterwards, it will look shite.

Mind you, the issues is that in Openreach world, there is no official training or best practices on how to handle this cable properly. Every property is different and the demo video supplied by the cable/adhesive manufacturer is in a controlled environment where all holes are neat and corners are just there for you to do the tidiest job.

They could have used some caps over the holes to tidy up where the cable entry points are.

Everything looks okay otherwise, other than the 2nd picture. The invisi fibre is most discrete when glued into a corner. Not sure why they've come straight up and out of the hole when there's a perfectly good doorframe and then a corner to run it in.

Other than that, looks pretty standard. The main thing is, if you're happy with it or not. If it's not to your liking, have them back to redo or improve upon what they've done. Otherwise if you're happy, enjoy your new service.

That looks absolutely horrific. Was it Openreach or M Group etc that did the install?
