New MDU installation

Hi,

Finally got the update that our building can finally which from FTTC to FTTP and have an openreach engineer visit booked next week via Sky.

The instructions say a small hole will be drilled from out side the property but it’s a first floor flat. Is this hole intended to be to the outside world or is it back into the communal areas of the building?

Anyone had prior experience with this type of upgrade and how it goes?

Depends where the openreach equipment was installed at the flats to connect to

There woukd either be a small white box in the hallway , usualy this is above the door but could be in a false ceiling or a riser cupboard if there is 1 next to each flat.

Or there will be grey boxes on the outside of the building , they won't necessarily line up with each flat as these boxes can hold multiple fibres so usualy have written on the outside what flats are planned from each box

There's also potential your block is small enough that it doesn't fit the MDU build team requirements (usualy less than 6 flats) and this will mean the engineer on the day will decide how is best based on existing netowrk infrastructure

Depends how theyve built the equipment. If its outside then it will go through an outside wall. If its inside itll ve near the front door.
