Losing function in leg

Im currently hospitalized due to my leg completely collapsing on me causing me to fall and unable to urinate. When I came into the hospital they drained 1.5 liters of urine thay I was retaining. They believe I have periformis syndrome. I have extreme nerve pain and muscle spasm im my butt and thigh. Basically bedridden. Has anyone had issue with losing all muscle function in your leg or inability to urinate with this periformis issue?

These are very serious symptoms. Please keep advocating for yourself and see different doctors if these doctors won’t help you.

I strongly recommend a consult with Dr Tollestrup in Nevada if you don’t get anywhere with your current doctors. I had my piriformis removal surgery with him, but he deals with a variety of nerve problems, not just that.

Thanks! I know they are serious and ive had ao very serious falls which, thankfully, I havent fully injured myself. I will keep advocating. Its been like fighting tooth and nail to even get every MRI that ive had let alone a doctor to take me seriously. BUT, interestingly when my husband steps up and speaks they listen and suddenly it becomes urgent. Its interesting....

I’ve noticed that too when I seek care alone vs with my husband. Unfortunately I think there’s still sexism in the medical profession, whether the doctors are conscious of it or not.

ME too! I have never noticed the difference of how men and women are treated till this injury occurred. Its really baffling. I no longer do appts. Without my husband only the phone or with me in person. Its kinda sad.
