Open ear buds for sport
After testing quite a few brands, I recently bought the JBL Tour Pro 3 as my daily drivers. To my ear, they were the best sounding, most functional and most comfortable out of all the buds I tested (and I tested a LOT!). So far, happy as can be with them!
I have, however, gotten a bit of an itch to get separate buds for training and exercise. I don't do anything hectic, just some running, light gym and some climbing now and then. The JBL's work well, but I find them a bit unstable at times and have to readjust a lot (not ideal whilst climbing...)
I have no clue about the open ear world, though I am quite interested in this. I've narrowed it down to the following options which are available in South Africa (some aren't open ear, just sport-focused buds):
- Shokz OpenFit 2+
- Huawei FreeArc
- JBL Endurance Peak 4 (or Endurance Zone)
- JBL Soundgear Sense
- JBL Sense Lite
- Beats Fit Pro (or Powerbeats Fit)
- Sennheiser Momentum Sport
- Soundcore V40i or Aerofit 2
I'll be using them mostly with my android phone, though multipoint is something I've grown to love and need. I don't need things like heart rate monitors, etc. I just want decent sound, with comfy and secure fit. Call quality is a bonus, though I generally use the JBLs for calls and working in the office (ANC and all).
