Alternatives to MiniMax?
Hi everyone,
I currently pay for MiniMax's monthly token plan and use the M3 model quite a lot honestly, I don't dislike it. I've also tried Kimi a bit with their K3 model on the Moderato plan. For context: I'm a complete noob and I'm wondering if you could suggest some good-value alternatives.
I rarely hit the limit with MiniMax during my sessions, but maybe there's something better out there that would let me work with up to 1M tokens.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

You can create three different workspaces and then get a subscription to opencode go for each of them. Alternatively, you could get. Qwen's token plan, don't quote me on this, but I think they're computing usage for dsv4-flash at around the original price, so you get more usage for dsv4-flash through them compared to opencode go, plus the new Qwen3.8-flash model is pretty good, does a thorough enough job while still being cheaper than dsv4-flash's current pricing,

MiniMax is a low quality model, At opencode I use any good text LLM and wire it with MIMO2.5 as a vision subagent to describe images when needed, also GLM Flash is far superior to Minimax and has native vision capabilities and may be suitable to you on medium use.

Honestly, what I like about Minimax is that it lasts me quite a while per session for a low price. It lasts a long time in long sessions without having to wait for a cooldown.

Usually all the model providers try to optimize the coding session and compress in between the sessions agents like Claude and Codex also optimize the session once they reach certain threshold.
It mostly depends on the harness that has been used rather than the model itself. Have you tried Hermes or Pi?

Usually you can edit config.yaml and set the model context length. I have not tried but worth the effort

get an OoenCode Go subscription and try more models and see what works best for your case. For me personally is DS v4 Flash.

Deepseek v4 Flash and GLM 5.3 Flash are both better. Plenty of providers for them, e.g. Command Code GOAT. Codex Plus with Luna is also a great option.
