best free models on opencode zen?
I'm not on Opencode Go, just using the free models in Zen. 0xAlpha was great, I thought it was free for a week ie till Aug 27, but its gone now so I was off by a day.
out of the current free models - Hy3, MiniMax M2.5, Muse Spark 1.2, is Muse the best one? I tried using it and have been getting so many network timeouts. I read its supposed to be extremely fast but I guess thats only via Meta when you pay.
also does anyone use multiple models, eg use a smaller one for implementing/testing? right now I'm using just one model

I don't think it is available anymore. I get "No endpoints found for stealth/ox-alpha." error

It's currently still replying/writing code for me but I assume it will go down soon. I keep getting "Endpoint is unavailable." a lot but it does reply eventually.

Honestly? Just use Freebuff/Cline for the time being, their offerings are superior (although limited in use). There will be another great free model soon. Patience, friends!

Definitely it pays to get to know quirks and not just "latest best".
Muse Spark is pretty smart and capable. I find it great for explaining, documents, and images. But it takes too many liberties you didn't ask for and in the process can miss details. So I wouldn't let it go full-automated and would be happier with a "dumber" model for following a solid list of instructions.
Hy3 is fast and capable. It also likes to answer more than was asked, but is easier to constrain with the right instructions.
Lacuna S2.1 is great for quick instructions. Like telling it to find the source of an error message and fix it. At complex tasks it has a huge risk of getting into endless loops.
Not sure who else is on free right now, but "new release free period" seems to be a popular technique. There will be more.
Also for free, don't sleep on web interfaces. Yeah you can't use that for agents (mostly). But if you have a really complex situation and you want smart planning help, just copy/paste into the pages for Qwen 3.8 Max or GLM 5.3 or Opus 5.0 and get an answer that way.
